Wk2 chosen over 'other' luxury brands
When I compared vehicles, the WK2 stole my heart from the second time I saw it. I ignored it the first time and simply thought I'd never buy an american vehicle again.

But spending time comparing feature to feature, style and build, I chose not to spend 12k more for the MDX, 20k more for the X5 or ML or Q7, or 40k more for a Range Rover.

What I find funny are my friends. Now they're great (good people, hard working, etc).. but they agitate me. How? They MUST drive either a BMW, Acura, or a Benz.

Its almost like a religion. In fact, they wont always buy them new, not all of them; some will get them used as well. But they gotta be the 'brand' just because the 'brand' says "HEY! I'm driving a 'BRAND!'"

Now to each his own, but I think - hell, I know this is a smarter, better purchase in every which way.

But why oh why do they always try to talk me into a 'brand' and look at me funny when I tell them my ride is nice.. REAL nice.. and I'd rather buy it new than spend the same money for a 3 year old 'brand'.

I feel funny when I talk about my wk2. almost like I'm trying to justify the reason I bought it...

meh.. just a late night rant on the good, the bad, and the ugly..

I'm used to hearing oh you have a Jeep those things last forever. I am driving a 2000 JGC with 155k on it and its still in good shape, especially the motor, and I don't baby the thing. I've taken it on 100 mile trips towing a 4ish thousand pound trailer. Did I mention I have the inline 6? Having said that... I ordered a 2011 Overland two months ago and can't wait to say I have both luxury AND durability in one truck. I think you get what you pay for, and in this case, all new 2011 owners got a deal because this is one sweet ride that will last us for a long time.

With a Jeep, you're not only driving a brand, you're driving a lifestyle. :)

I switched over from driving an Infiniti G35 sedan. I was looking between the Acura ZDX, MB ML, and X5. I love my decision and the fact that it's not a cookie cutter car. I've had my 2011 GC for less than a week now and am already noticing a lot of looks from people. I love the change!

I have a "Car Guy" friend who insists I should look at a RangeRover. Last year he insisted I look at the Acura. Not wasting my time this year. I did look at the new Lexus at the DC car show, nice car but not for the price.
This will be my third Jeep. They have been comfortable, reliable and have gotten me through snow and sand. Can't ask for more.
Besides we get to support an American company and Marlon JB2 and Milous seem like nice guys. Let's keep them busy.

We looked at the MDX, but IMO the new Jeep beats it almost across the board!

Yep.....Jeep Overland buyers should get a little decal with a little kid peeing on an MDX. ;)

Looked at the VW Touraeg, MB ML350, and 4runner. Honestly, these vehicles were not on the same playing field. I was getting leatherette seats in the VW and MB, and the 4runner felt like it was 10 years behind in exterior and interior style, and interior materials. I will say that the Diesel was nice in the MB and VW, but I could not pay the premium and get a inferior SUV compared to the Overland.

I traded a MB and bought this Jeep and have not looked back since.

The only thing that compares well for the price is the touareg, even though its more expensive, it does have an available diesel, something this jeep sorely lacks.

I don't consider Acura a luxury brand, they just don't stack up and never have.

I had an 03 Range that spent more time in the shop than on the road...worst vehicle I've ever owned.

I do love my E550 4matic though.
