new member - lots of pics - FIRST THREAD!
Hello everybody, name is Steve and I'm new to this forum. I have a 2000 WJ Laredo 2WD 4.0L w/ 195k miles. I've had my WJ for 3 years now. I was recently debating selling her but the resale value is low and it wouldn't be worth selling it for what I payed for. Since I plan on keeping it until it blows up, I'm looking to put some money into it and making it look/run better. I've already started with the appearance. I bought after market rear tails, 3rd brake light and a new grille from eBay. I'm looking for the right set of head lights for my next purchase. I installed a new head unit from Crutchfield which came with harness, wiring and directions all for free!
I've done some reading on this forum and I'm so happy I found it. Thanks to a previous thread I learned that I wasn't the only one with crappy handling due to the shocks and sway bar. I plan on upgrading those ASAP! Next I want to upgrade the brakes. My overall goal for my WJ is to keep its MPG as high as possible and keep her running in tip top form for as long as possible. I have a couple of questions and would appreciate any help from the community!
1.) Where should i order bilstein shocks?
2.) Where should I order addco sway bar?
3.) What upgrades to the brakes have you done?
4.) Where should I buy brake parts?
5.) Are there any upgrades/mods that can help with mpg?
6.) My rear glass doesn't open. I try pushing the button and nothing happens, anyone have any suggestions?

First two pics are from purchase day. The rest are new, tell me what you think!

Welcome to JG! Get Bilstein Shocks, Take off the Humme grille and put back the stock grille on. It's not a Hummer. Sorry bash on you for that!

In the first two pictures you have Fog Lights. In the rest of the pictures you don't....?

I think the hummer grill looks awesome in matte black. Good stuff!

I actually hate the way chrome looks so the grille had to go! I like the black grille so it's staying. I'm thinking either someone stole my fog lights or my brother changed the front bumper while he had it for the year I was in Afghanistan. The bumper had a bump in it so that may be why he changed it. I'll take a new pic of the rear so you guys can see the smoked 3rd brake light I recently put on.

Hey Steve, nice WJ and welcome to the garage!! :)

I do agree the hummer grille doesn't really suit the Jeep, but if you like it cool. Although the original grille with mesh behind it looks awesome.

Summit Racing sell the sway bar (I got mine there) although Eibach do them now too, and they do a front/rear package with mounts etc, powdercoated in red which look great. You're choice.

Brake upgrade, the Akebono caliper upgrade is worth it if you are fed up with warped rotors but they aren't cheap. R1 concepts do good rotor/pad combos for the WJ and are on here, check them out.

A induction kit is supposed to help improve MPG (maybe 1 or 2) but the noise is awesome so I'd suggest one of those. Not an overly expensive mod either.

Rear glass... When you push the button on the tailgate do you hear the locking mechinisim working or not? If you do, it might be the hydraulic rams that are busted preventing it from opening. Happend to mine. It was a PITA to get them off but its do able, I've actually not got round to putting new ones in yet, but I can open the window (just need to manually hold it up).

Hope that helps a little.
