Inside Air Circulation Button Blinking

Hello all. When I press the inside air circulation button it blinks a few times and turns off. Is there only a few conditions that will allow you to circulate the air inside the cabin? Thanks.

It doesn't work if you are directing air to the floor or if the defroster is on

That's the fart detection system (FDS) indicating a potentially dangerous rise in cabin pressure.

It seems to do this on mine in auto mode when it has picked the defroster or other mode. I take it out of auto and then it is no problem using reticulate button.
