new to the forum! hids question

hey fellow Jeep owners! im new to the forum, but i have owned my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo for a little over a year. i have done a lot of work to it, and learned so much along the way with my dads help! i have done so much to my Jeep i dont even know where to list the mods but eventually i will. my first topic will be about my radio and hid problem. i bought some 10000k hids back around June or so, and when i turn them on, every now and then my complete radio shuts off. the player, the head unit, the clock, everything shuts off! the radio is the stock one from the factory, not any fancy aftermarket one. the radio and everything works perfect with my stock headlights, but not with the hids. does anyone have or had this problem also? any ideas on what the problem is? thanks in advance for any help given, i greatly appreciate it!

do you have them grounded with a relay harness?

no i just plugged the ballast into the factory wiring harness plug where the stock headlight and fog light bulbs plug in. thats what the directions said to do. maybe its something to do with a ground from the radio? i checked all the plugs in the back of the radio and they r all plugged in fine. im thinking the hids are not worth the trouble of no radio lol

contact our vendor here "xenondepot" and buy a relay harness for each headlight. There is a how for adding the relay harness in the how to forum.

interference from the ballast maybe? try re-mounting them somewhere else. not near the PCM, or ABS module tho.

Re: new to the forum! hids question

thanks for the suggestions but ive decided to just keep my stock headlights and fog lights in and not use the hids, plus a lot of people dont like the 10000k because they r too blue, but i think they r sweet! oh well, not a big deal. getting Hella 500 lights for my brush guard and possibly my roof rack as well and they will probably go better with stock lights anyway. thanks for the responses tho!
