Instrument panel noise

There is a squeeking noise that is comming from the drivers side of my Jeep when it is moving.I believe the noise is coming from the cluster area where the guages are(tach/Speedo).The sound go from loud to very liitle. Is there anything that moves inside the instrument cluster that would require grease/lubricant.Could it be the steering inside the engine or steering inside the Jeep.Any help would be great.Jeep has allready looked at the strut area.Joe

Re: Instrument panel noise

nothing mechanical in the cluster. you can pop the bezel off and 4 screws and 3 plugs and the cluster is in your hand. you could drive with it out. also most of the panels under the steeering wheel aere very simple to remove including the top and bottom cover. remove all that stuff might help isolate the noise. also there is a clocksping and other stuff under the steering wheel that do make noise when they go bad but usually a clicking noise though.
