Can you change out the interior TRIM? Anyone try? Anyone interested?

Got a 2011 Limited and am loving it. Love everything except for maybe the wood grain trim. I think the black grain trim from the Laredo black interiors would look much better and want to change out the trim to that one. Has anyone done this? Is it possible or is the trim part and parcel with the door panel (though I doubt it)? I've changed out the trim in other cars without issues (Acura and Audi) so I assume Jeep would be no different, but thought I'd ask and see if anyone had any unforeseen advice or issues. Thanks guys!

Oh, and BTW if anyone is within the Chicagoland/Milwaukee area with a Laredo and wants to swap out their black grain trim for the Limited's wood trim let me know, I'd be interested in an even trade (we could take our cars into the dealers together and just pay for the labor cost).

Best wishes,
Chris

Hey Chris, I live close to the Chicagoland area and have been interested in the same interior swap idea. I have a Laredo with Dark Graystone / Medium Graystone, which has the darker black grain wood. What color interior do you have? I am interested.

I plan on changing the Overland wood trim to the Summit "Black Olive" so let us know if anyone makes a swap so we know the hassle factor or labor cost.

Ditto. Should be relatively easy....biggest issue will just be unplugging the airbag.

Why would one need to unplug the airbag just to change out the wood trim? In my Acura and Audi the wood trim just pulled off. Are you saying that the Cherokee requires removing the entire interior front panelling/dash to remove just the trim?

Thanks.

he probably means on the steering wheel. Just be sure to disconnect the negative on the battery and make sure ALL stored energy is removed from the system.

Scott said it. I was referring to changing out the steering wheel.

the wood pieces on the dash may be the most difficult by my estimation. They are probably plastic welded to the dash and would be hard to remove unless you have a plan to weld them back somehow. This is not known for sure untill someone sees a dash unit seperate from the 2011 or tries the mod on sure bravery.

I will, I just want to find out how this is done first as I'm not sure if they pop off or they are actually welded to the paneling. If they are welded/glued on their I would be surprised and disappointed.

Chris - Does your steering wheel have wood on it? If so, will you be swapping that also?
