Where does the sunshade go?

I would like to mount an antenna as centrally as possible on the roof of a GC and would also like to have Quadra-lift. Quadra-lift seems to be available here only on the Overland and the Overland has a sunroof as standard equipment. Large sunroof with no rear seat DVD Entertainment Center or the smaller sunroof with the Entertainment Center.

It appears there would be room for a roof-mount antenna in front of the AM/FM/Satellite antenna with the small sunroof but I don't want to spend an additional $1500 for equipment I don't want just to get a smaller sunroof.

It also seems there is room for a roof antenna behind the large sunroof, except for the sunshade. Where does it go when it is retracted? The sunshade is longer than the distance from the back of the sunroof to the back of the roof. Maybe it retracts onto a roller?

I would purchase a service manual but that doesn't seem to be available yet. Has anyone had the headliner off and looked around up there?

By the way I noticed a few days ago that the Off-Road Adventure II package showed up on the Jeep "Build your own" website as an option. Great, just what I wanted. I went to my Jeep dealer to order one out and they said that Quadra-lift is not available on the Laredo X at least for them to order. Does anyone know if Quadra-lift (Off-Road Adventure II) is available anywhere now on the Laredo X?

Re: Where does the sunshade go?

You are correct even with the panoramic roof there is plenty of room for your extra antennas in front of the factory antenna. Check my sharkfin antenna post if you want a picture. The sun shade seems to go straight back not roll up but I am not sure, it is thin cloth so who knows. But I believe even with it going straight back you will have no problem with antennas with the panoramic. FWIW I know of a very modified limited that has some extras (3 extra antennas and other equip) added on top for law enforcement in the area. It has the panoramic and they were able to do it. I will do some asking and see if I can talk to someone who knows how the install was done.

The sharkfin antenna post was useful for visualizing that there is adequate room on top of the roof for an antenna. In fact that sharkfin antenna makes everything much easier because it would blend well visually with a vertical communications antenna. My question relates more to what is underneath the roof that might get in the way of mounting hardware and cable runs.

The length of the sunshade is much more than the distance from the back of the panoramic sunroof to the back of the vehicle so something special happens to that sunshade which might involve hardware that gets in the way. Any asking around would be much appreciated!
