GVW Rating

Does anyone know why there is a difference between a Overland 5.7 quadra drive 2 and lift and a Laredo equiped with the same? The Laredo is 6500lbs GVW, the limited with 5.7 is 6800lbs and the Overland is 6800lbs.

Why would the Laredo be less with the same build?

nope, both have HD brakes. At first I thought maybe it was just Jeeps info being off, but I got my build sheet and it says 6500lb GVW on my Laredo (Which has the same drivetrain as the Overland. My limited has 6800lb as well, I looked at the build sheets and just can't figure out what would cause a variance. The only thing I could think was the extra weight due to the skid plates lowering it but I don't think the Overland goes down to 6500lb if you add the off road package does it?

If the Laredo does not have the panoramic roof, that may account for the difference. The Limited and Overland come standard with the panoramic roof while the Laredo does not.

It probably does. Weight is weight, and those steel skid plates have to weigh at least 300lbs.

Those 20" wheels are going to weigh a lot more too.

I would pay more attention to the empty and curb weight differences. The way GVWR is calculated is not anywhere close to an acutal representation of the vehicles actual weight.
