Grand cherokee wj fault codes
Hi there, i have a grand cherokee wj 2002 '52' 2.7 crd

just been out in the snow in the jeep and it got stuck in 1st gear wouldnt change, i turned it off turned it back on and it seem'd fine changed gear as normal, but the engine light is on.

I have done the fault check via the key and it has thrown up these codes.

P 0514 (battery temp radiation)
p 0700 (transmission control system malfunction)
p 0702 (transmission control system electrical)

are the meanings of these codes right?

Is it safe to drive? (wont damage it any more)

any sugestions on how to fix or what to do next? (or is it a trip to the dealers)

many thanks ryan

Re: Grand cherokee wj fault codes
I donīt know which transmission your Jeep has, but i would check and clean all electrical connectors on the tranny. You will need an ODBII reader to clear the fault memory and to extinguish the check engine light.

Re: Grand cherokee wj fault codes
My friend had one of these models, I have the 4.0l version, His transmission would only change into 2nd , got the AA out and they said to take it to the Dealer, He took the Jeep into The Dealer the next day and they had to reboot or reload the Transmission E.C.U. after that it was fine. you could try the Battery earth lead off for 30 sec's, That may reset the ECU, only thing is you will need the code for your radio to work.
