Tpms wtf

So i am driving my jeep today and the tire pressure light starts to flash and i get a bing bing noise.

My jeep does not have the advanced TPMS system that tells you what each tire has for pressure etc. Its just the basic setup i guess that tells you if its low.

So i assume a tire has low pressure.
Besides going out and checking tires with a gauge and filling each one is there any way to find out what tire is low from in the jeep? i could not find anything in the cluster information center.

Also could it be the spare or is that not included in the basic system?

Finally will the bing and light (it goes out after a min or two) will it stop coming on every time i start up and once in a while while i am driving if i just add air to all the tires to the right pressure?

if you dont have the advanced system...you have to check each one. If they are fine...check the spare. That light will stay on and you will get the warning untill you fix the problem

add the right pressure and you will be golden....

OK, But all i have to do is fill up the tires to the right pressure on the door sticker and it will go off on its own?

Re: Tpms wtf

I have 2 dead/malfunctioning TPMS sensors, YAY, and its could cost about $200+ to fix it after labor. Fawk that noise, he cleared the codes for now.

I have the basic system that does not tell what tire has what pressure, it just says "hey there is an issue" So there is no way of knowing where each bad sensor is. it said sensor 1 and 2 are bad, that could be any where on the jeep or the spare tire.

the only way to tell is to actually dismount each tire and check the sensors and the new sensors need to be "learned" or programmed before install.

It is also illegal for the dealership to deactivate the system. If i could get my hands on a scan tool and deactivate it myself and put in regular valve stems if i wanted.

it will prolly cost in excess of $200 to get it fixed, he cleared teh code and i am gonna leave it for now as i have better things to spend $200 on.

Re: Tpms wtf

weird that 2 would fail at the same time huh?

Re: Tpms wtf

Thats what i thought, but i know the tech and i looked at the scanner myself.

I know you can get the sensors cheaper...but its gonna be a pain to find which one it is.
