Purolator Pentastar oil filter

I know we've talked about it before, but couldn't locate the thread, so figured I'd post it here.

For those of you with the 3.6L V-6, aftermarket non-Mopar oil filters are incoming. Purolator is showing on their site that the part number for this oil filter is L36135. It is showing as not available yet, but keep an eye out.

So far it's the only one I've yet seen announced. I'm sure everybody else has one coming as well (this engine is going to be used in everything, there's no way they'll all leave us to the Chrysler parts department's tender mercies), but nobody else shows any oil filter for this engine.

I'm surprised there isn't something that fits already. The cartridge type oil filters have been out for years now in a bunch of different sizes and vehicles.

I got some mopar filters at my dealer and took them to my Auto Zone store, but they could not match anything up yet. I did the second filter change a couple days ago. The dealer did the first as it was free. It was the easiest and cleanest oil change I have ever done. Besides being easy access and clean, the cartridge filter enables one to examine the pleats of the filter to see what has been caught in the filter. I also love being able to raise the overland up with the quadra lift to give plenty of room to slide under there to drain the oil. Yes, I know it is a good idea to put some type of safety stop under the frame in the unlikely event of an air bag or line failure.

I would add that it is quite informative to be able to examine the filter pleats and oil that one drains out at changes. A good friend of mine works for Cat and is part of the group at Cat that does the oil analysis for the customers with Cat engines. Deere also has a program to get ones oil analysized. One can tell quite a bit about an engine just by looking at the oil.
