Clear Bra from 3M - any opinions?

A friend of mine is purchasing an Audi a5 and his dealer mentioned a product called Clear Bra. Has anyone had any experience with this product for the Jeep?

Is it worth it?
Does it dull the finish or look?
How does it weather in extreme hot or cold temperatures?
If you have it, where on the Jeep; hood and/or doors?

Any info or discussion is helpful.

I have it on my Lexus for about 4 years now. It has not dulled, chipped, faded, or peeled. You can't really notice it at all. I live in southern cali so it hasn't been subjected to extreme conditions. I'm glad I purchased it for my Lexus since it sits so low to the ground. However, I'll probably pass for my JGC.

I do not have it on my Jeep. I have it on my mini cooper since it is lower to the ground.

If you do not get the full protection you will see an ugly line all the way across the hood. Up close it has the look of a heavy orange peel to the paint. Also on light colored cars you can also see dirt when it gets under the film in some small places.

No issues with extreme heat or cold. Well worth it if you do a lot of highway traveling.

I'm not sure what type of 3M you used but mine doesn't have orange whatsoever and you can hardly noticed the line even up close.

I had my dealer apply the 3M chip guard to my Overland. I've had the clear bra on both my 2004 GC & 2006 Charger. It's saved a few major stone chips, and gives me peace of mind when driving on winter roads covered in sand and salt.

Here's a pic. Can you see the bra?

Double thumbsup to the 3M clear bra. I would never go braless again, and haven't for the past 4 vehicles. Cheap, effective, nearly invisible protection. IMO, all vehicles should come with one from the dealer.

On the WK2, 12" of the hood and front quarter panels are fine, though some will try to sell you 18". Some do the A pillars. I added the headlamps, and may add the front fascia since it's such a large part of the front end. YMMV.

Edit: Bubs, those are some sweet rims.

Not an orange color, but an orange peel affect. All paint has what they call orange peel texture little dimples or ripples in the paint. The clear bra adds some extra orange peel texture to the look up close.

I got it on my 09 Acura TL and 02 Honda S2000. I plan on putting it on the JGC first things after delivery. Best investment I ever made. You definitly need it in Colorado to protect the nose from all the sand, stones, and salt.

I have one on my JGC and I love. I am also in CO Springs, so I knew that if I didn't put one on right away the front of the vehicle would be completely sand blasted by the end of winter.

As far how it looks, you need to get real close to see it otherwise you wouldn't notice.

What's the approximate price range for a standard installation?

I paid $600 for the front bumper and 18 inches of clear bra on the hood, and the door handle cups.

Above is a picture of the clear bra.
