Catch Can

Hey guys, I know most are using the pro-vent. My CRD has 55k miles, and I am way overdue for setting up some sort of catch can.

Question is will this work?

Has anybody done this on the CRD? I am really wanting too but am fairly unfamiliar with diesel engines and would require somewhat of a DIY post. Thanks for any help.

I'm pretty sure the billett tech catch can couldn't handle the amount of blowby the CRDs produce. Those work better for Hemis and normally asperated gas engines. My CRD produced so much blowby that a Racor CCV4500 couldn't handle the blowby. Went to the elephant hose mod and have been happy ever since...

I've only done 20,000kms and found that my intake tube has a orange seal and its covered with oil, so i'm going back to jeep to try and get it replaced under warranty. I'm told that the orange seal is faulty. After thats done i'm fitting a Provent 200, it's very very important to stopping oil entering the turbo as it will cause damage to the turbo that will be very expensive.

We have a lot of CRDs over here both Grands and Commanders and i as many others have had swirl motor failures due to the orange seal leaking.

It is becomming very common to fit the Pro-Vent Filter and they seem to be doing the job.
But i have been told that the top of the motor still needs a little Blowby to keep things lubricated including the vains in the turbo, would be interested in hearing your thoughts on that one.

As i understand it blowby is what is left over after everything has been lubricated and that blowby needs to go somewere,in the old days most motors used to have a breather or tube that vented out into the air but thats a no no now so now the blowby is returned to the motor via the sump or intake,IMO the only thing that should go pass the vains in a turbo intake is heaps of CLEAN cool air.
