AAC Inverter Failing! Go ahead Rob. Laugh!

So one of my Oracle/AAC CCFL inverters have failed. Luckily I have the inventors that came with a 1amp fuse preventing them from catching fire or blowing up.
I've replaced the 1 amp fuse 3 times and it keeps blowing the fuse. So I kind of realized it's gone to a better place.
I wrote to AAC explaining what happened about 3 weeks ago....still waiting for their reply.....
The thing is that I want to keep my Halos. But for that I would need new inverters.
So does anyone know where I can get some good compatible ones??

go to lx and search. there is another company that makes inverters, i cant recall the name. but a search on inverter may get lucky over there. i will look for you as well.

basically what you need is a SAFE 110 volt inverter. i wonder if you spent 20-30 bux if you couldnt find a mnuch better set up.

and i wont laugh; I am just glad it didnt turn into something horrible.

Are you talking about the focuztech ones?? Because they've shut down their business. :(

Will keep on searching, though it seems hard to find a good quality replacement.

Thanks a lot Rob!
I'll run that by an expert to see if it would work. One thing that confuses me though is that it says it gives a 1000v output. Hehe! Might make the halo's bright a bit more though :D

Re: AAC Inverter Failing! Go ahead Rob. Laugh!

i beleive the 1000v is correct. i saw that on a AAC ad for the NEW inverters. thats why i chose that one.

but i am electrical DUMB so please have it confirmed.

another good place besides DIGI-KEY is MOUSER.

and you may have to get a small project box to put that thing in, 3 bux at RS.

Guys, here are some possible choices:

http://www.easy-motorcycle.com/ccfl-...a9kujrpklt20b4

They advertise them for BMW, but looking at the price, I doubt they are OEM BMW inverters, which would be the bee's knees IMHO. Anything OEM is going to be of the utmost quality, so if you can get your hands on that stuff, go for it.

Direct AAC replacements:

$40 with free shipping doesn't seem all that bad for a pair. I would give those a try. First off, they are guaranteed to be compatible (or so you would hope) and if only one is bad, you have 2 replacements.

I subscribe to the doctrine that if you can upgrade it to last longer, by all means go that route. But when no such feasible solution exists, you have to look for the cheap route and say to yourself, "well, for $9, I can afford to have these things fail once a year."

At that point, your efforts/money are better spent mounting/wiring the inverter in an accessible location so that when it DOES fail, you can replace it in 90 seconds. Carry a spare inverter in your glove box and deal with it.

Lastly, for the most part I've heard that AAC's stuff is relatively high-quality (trust me, it can get a LOT worse). You probably just got a bad inverter in the bunch and are having a hard time getting a hold of them. If you bought a pair of AAC inverters, I'm sure the replacement would last you plenty long and you'd already have a spare if it ever did fail.

Aren't these CCFL's supposed to last like 100,000 hours? That's over 11 years of continuous operation! I mean, the first "C" in "CCFL" is "Cold". Heat is the enemy of electronics. They shouldn't be failing.

Cheap chinese-made crap!

i think its those oracle ones that keep buring up Lips. and the 9.95 ones dont look safe.......is there anything better.

Agreed on the $9.95 inverters.

Do these inverters keep repeatedly failing? The picture that the OP painted was that he was only having trouble with one, and even that one hasn't completely failed, yet. I thought this was an isolated incident.

We can keep searching if these options don't satisfy you.
