WK2 front license plate

I want to attach a license plate to my front bumper, but I'm not sure exactly how to do it...

I know there are two dimples on the bumper where to attach it, but what size screws do I need to use, and will I have to actually drill out those holes?

Some have mentioned screws being included in the glove compartment at purchase, but I have seen none in mine.

Any help is appreciated!

Scews might be in the back of the Jeep, check out all the compartments and such. Or Home Depot will have the hardware you need.

Any auto parts place will have them along with a mounting bracket if you want that. The screws are standard size and go right in, no drilling required.

Self tapping screws, the biggest that will fill the bracket holes.

I hate that you have to screw right into the plastic. What if you decide later you want to leave it off for looks or if it gets loose from wind and whatever you'll wind up having to put holes next to the first ones and will look shotty. My S2000 has a nice threaded nut behind the bumper and has color matched plugs that look sharp since i don't keep my front plate on that.

Show-n-go might be a solution for you. No screwing necessary at all.

Here the electric version:

See on YouTube with a 2010 GC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5CK8...e_gdata_player

EXTRA COOL: TRAIN ONE OF YOUR HOMELINK BUTTONS TO RELEASE OR HIDE THE ELECTRIC SHOW-N-GO

...there is also a less expensive manual version available on ebay.

I haven't run a front plate on anything in the last twenty plus years. So I asked my dealer not to mount a front plate or bracket on my new 2011 GC that I was to pick up yesterday. But wouldn't you know it, they put on an advertisement plate for the dealership anyway. They say it was some miscommunication. I say you can't get any kind of decent service from a Jeep dealer. I'm having them fix the front bumper so now I won't be getting my Grand until Tuesday. That sucks.

Are the JGC's coming with front brackets now? When I bought mine in October there was no bracket and the plate had to go right on the bumper.

Nothing has changed since you bought yours in October. The plate goes right on the bumper. My dealer put it on.

Many times, the PDI people at dealerships are like robots. In states that require a front plate, the PDI people just install the bracket onto the front bumper, even if the car isn't sold and will sit on the lot.

If you don't want the plate mounted on the front, you usually have to tape a huge piece of paper on the dash and on the steering wheel stating and make sure your sales person makes sure it gets listed on the PDI service form:

"Do Not Mount Front License Plate Bracket"

Yet there will still be times they will forget.

I always state if I come to take delivery and the front plate bracket is on the car, I will not be buying the car. I done this since 1987 and so far it's worked. Well except for one time in 1993 when I got a new Lexus SC400 and the plate bracket was on the front. The dealer was shocked when I said get me another car without the bracket or else I go elsewhere. 2 days later, they got another car off the boat equipped the same way.
