RER decided to ignore my iphone 4's after working flawlessly..

After over a month of perfect connections through the ipod cable, suddenly both my wifes phone and my phone get 'initializing comm...' and it just hangs there.

1) I have not updated the iphone firmware - so its the same fw I had since I got the vehicle.

I did recently add a few more songs to both phones using Media Monkey to drag and drop them instead of itunes. But this was done before as well and didnt have any effect on connections (nor do I think it should have played a role here as well)

I plan on updating the fw to 2.302 as found in another thread on this site. I'll report back my results.

But in the mean time, this is weird... i mean, wtf?!

try opening the ipod app before you connect the cable.

But even if this works, the whole thing still sucks...

anyway if you do it like I said, you can even play pandora so you do not need to download songs from any monkey

I used to listen to the iPod app and streaming music and it all worked fine.

Very weird behavior. Is there a way to reboot the system? Like any pc, sometimes a hard reset solves certain issues.

I saw a reset tip on Milous' WKJeeps.com site that applied to various MyGig units including the RER:

http://wkjeeps.com/wk_nav_2.htm

Scroll about 3/4 down the page to the Troubleshooting section to see the tip.

Granted this is for WK JGC's, but it might be worth considering.

I agree that a swift kick in the @ss (i.e., reboot) is often just what the doctor ordered for squirrelly technology.

The iPhone 4 has spotty compatibility with the RER. There is an update coming in January; Apple went messing with how things were for the iPhone 4 and not everybody got their equipment firmware changed to accomodate it.

Well I updated the system and iPhone issues persist.
Guess I'll hope 2.4 resolves the issues.

But that doesn't explain how it worked perfect for a month on 2 diff iPhone 4s.

Might try that fuse reset. Btw which fuse in the wk2 is for the mygig? And where are the fuses? Thx
