roof leak

We had some heavy rain today, and to my astonishment water was leaking from the roof. I was able to record this with my iphone camera. This is just unacceptable.

even if they can fix the leak, who knows where the water has reached, and the rust that it may have caused.

This car has been more than 5 times at the dealer. In 20 years I have never had a car going more than 5 times to dealer, and that is counting oil changes.

I do not even know how to complain anymore.. The lemon law is just in favor of the dealer, they do not really care about bad reviews, Jeep doesn't give a a fat f.. sh.... They just send you surveys asking you how you are doing. \

to the lucky people that have a defect free car, enjoy it, but I think I will part ways. I do not have the patience to deal with this.

Before the consumer was king, but we are becoming more like a third would country full of scammers trying to make the quick buck out of every stupid consumer.

Well that sicks big time. I knew buying a Jeep might be a risk but after having a F-150 that was always in the shop I thought this has got to be better. I hope so, I'm picking mine up Tuesday.

I hate to hear that.....nothing sucks more than having a truck that can't stay out of the shop. I have that nervous feeling every time I decide on a new truck, just hope I don't have that problem.

Do you have a pano-roof?

BMW faced the same problem when they introduced it on the previous X5.
Hopefully, it's not a design-flaw.

+1 really curious to hear if this is a pano roof.

Worse than minor rust (you caught in quickly, it would seem) is potential damage to electronics and mildew/rot to fabric and similar materials.

Re: roof leak

Yeah dont worry about rust, they're dip treated against it.

As Lingo says, much bigger issue is to soft trims and electronics either now or down the track.

I know we see all the issues under a microscope here in our own little corner of the enthusiest world, but I can't help hope that they haven't rushed it to market too quickly.

Mercedes Benz is prepared to release theirs until next year.... there may be something in that! :(

Re: roof leak

the water drops from the drivers sunvisor (right screw), there is also a drip in the center dash where the shift lever is(just one or 2 drops).

In order to see a niagara fall stile drop, you need to make a relatively sharp right turn with some modest acceleration.

If you have the problem, be sure to have a towel inside the car.

Yes it has Pano.

I just noticed it yesterday, but there may have been water there from previous rains.

I am afraid to go to the dealer because I am not sure if I will be able to contain myself when they will give me one of their intelligent answers.

take it in. there should be no excuse. any answer other than the most sincere of apologies and a promise to fix it with lifetime bumper to bumper warranty... well then you'd be right on to unload everything you've got on them. if my roof was leaking, forget it. somebody would be picking up their teeth with a broken arm.

I suggest you check your moonroof drain yourself. Park car on horizontal surface (important!) and just squirt some water in the drain holes near the edge of the sunroof (on my ZJ they were in the corners). If it doesn't drain to the ground immediately - you have a problem. Considering your car is fairly new it is unlikely they would be clogged (they where in my ZJ) - most probably pinched or not routed properly.

Plus you may have a leak in moonroof but this is relative - water always gets in, otherwise they wouldn't have drain holes.

In any case after dealer tells you they fixed it check your drain holes.

The problem may manifest itself depending on how you park your car (on the level surface or under the slight angle) and which drain hose is bad

My largest problem with my old ZJ was that it started to stink a bit after being flooded a couple times. This is why I ordered my WK2 Laredo X without moonroof. Laugh all you want.
