Re: Snow

thumbsup here. i've pushed the rig in 4-6" at elevation on winding mountain passes and was very pleased. i've had the wk2 fully loaded with sleeping kids and a cautious spouse, and drove in heavy wind and snow over a mountain pass at night at 12 degrees F temps - complete confidence.

haven't even needed snow mode yet, likely won't reach for that feature until it gets really deep. this is with firestone destination at's which are great, but a dedicated snow tire like the blizzaks would be even stronger.

solid performance including traction, transmission, stability, braking, and turning. breakaway slides are predictable, and can be countered by the gas pedal in many cases. manual shift feature works beautifully. lighting, heating, defrost, warm wood all good.

No pics, but drove in the muck here in STL yesterday. We only ended up with a couple inches, but I did try out the Snow setting- seems like it eases the already fairly gentle throttle calibration. I live in a pretty hilly neighborhood and didn't want for traction when climbing or descending.

Never had an issue with the 20" Forteras; I was surefooted and completely in control at all times. But then, I tend to take it easy in the snow.

Laredo X - Drove in 5" of snow and drifts this weekend, some as much as 2-3 feet. Worked very well, the only thing that worried me was the removeable air dam; I was concerned about it taking the impact from drifts. No issues there. Michelin LTX M/S 2's were great, I wouldn't have been so sure with the 18" Latitudes.
