My new 2011 JGC Hemi story

I bought the JGC back in early October,
One of the first things that became apparent was that under moderate to heavy acceleration I would would hear what sounded like a scraping noise.
I drove it for a week or two then took it to my purchasing dealer for a resolution (issue could be reproduce with brakes appplied and engine RPM at approx 2000 PM). They had it for two days and came back with the response that the exhaust was rubbing against a cross member under moderate to heavy torque, they shimmed a cross member and life was good again.
I went to pick up the Jeep and they said that the windshield washer hose had bubbles in and needed to be replaced.
Well two weeks later I get the call to come in and replace the windshield washer hose, Don't know why but... I got to thinking that morning and went outside to check things out (DON'T KNOW WHY) and found a bunch of interesting things. It turns out that when they had my JGC they started an engine fire (according to them, the the transmission dipstick popped out during testing and fluid got on the hot exhaust and started a fire). Well I am there for my first oil change at 700 miles and to get the hose replaced. The engine cover was partially melted on the passenger corner plus the firewall matt is discolored on the passenger side. I took lots of pictures and when I got to the dealer ship they pretty much admitted the issue, they also signed a statement admitting what happened and have accepted full responsibility. I went back yesterday to get the replacement engine cover (a part that was partially melted on the passenger back corner) along with another part that never got installed in the first place (passenger side rear passenger door rubber bumper) Sorry to say that on my first visit to get the initial oil change done they left the windshield wiper fluid cover open. What the hell!!!, you pay the market rates and get sub par results. Bottom line is I got the replacement parts and now I am done, except for the firewall panel (which Jeep has no part number for). I did get a call a few weeks late rthat the firewall panel dampner was in, I declined to have it replace based on my poor previous experiences with Tacoma Dodge.
Just wanted to share with this group...

Dealer = Tacoma Dodge

Ho.
Lee.
Crap.

They set it on FIRE?

I'm amazed they only managed to melt the engine cover and discolor the firewall insulation.

I'd have it examined by a competent dealership- if they broke anything else, those morons ought to pay for it.

Well they signed a statement that they are accepting full responsibility and will pay for any damages for as long as I own the vehicle

Yeah I guess thats a reasonable outcome.

One must question though, how hot did the trans oil get if they managed to cook it so much they blew the dipstick out!?

I'd be requesting a flush and replace of trans oil mate. No biggy to them, piece of mind to you.

Talk about an epic fail...take your car in for a rattle and the bastards manage to do this. Glad to hear they copped to it and will cover all related issues, but I say WTF to the fact that you had to discover it on your own. I agree with Marlin about insisting on a fresh trannie service at a minimum. I truly admire your restraint.

Lord help us, we don't know a fraction of what goes on with our cars when they go in for "service." Sheesh. I don't know if there is anything more valuable than a trustworthy mechanic!

Sorry to hear about your problems. I have had several issues in the past with Tacoma Dodge and have heard many, many more horror stories.

I know it'll be a few miles out of your way, but I've had really good luck at Larsen Chry/Dod/Jeep in Puyallup.

The Dodge dealer in Puyallup is actually closer, and yep for any future issues I will be going to them.
