Transmission over temp?

I was driving yesterday and all of the sudden my EVIC displayed "TRANSMISSION OVER TEMP" My car's air would not heat up before that and the engine then over heated. I have replaced the thermostat and replaced my coolant, still the same problem. Any Ideas? I have tried the 3 key code trick but cannot get it to work.

I've had the same issue and have spent thousands trying to figure out this is what it boils down to try this in the following order to save bunch of money ...

1) Pop your hood and disconnect the battery terminals let the car reset itself

2) Buy some di-electric contact cleaner, unplug your pcm wires and that big harness behind the fuse box, apply the di-electric cleaner and let it dry.

3) If that doesn't work, check the wiring harness that enters your transmission right next to the bell housing, those wires tend to melt and get exposed try splicing them and re taping them here's what mine looked like

- Now if that doesn't work then your going to have to replace your temp sensor that located in the valve body ... here is what it looks like

I have on extra just in case if you need it. It's $250 at the stealer and I'll give it to you 50% off.

Anyways moving, that's all the advise I can give you for now.

One other thing you might want to check is your water pump, what's your cars mileage?

Have you changed the serpentine belt, water pump ???

Let us know how it goes

It has around 70,000 miles on it. I was wondering if it could be the water pump, the serpentine belt looks good. I will have to check those wires later today. Also, do you know how to pull the code on the odometer? I have tried and can't seem to get it right.

Ive had enough with WK Tranny issues. Im going to buy my 4th 545rfe from a junk yard, put it in, and drive it to the trade in lot! Anyone looking for a fixed up WK with brand new wheels and tires?!

I've tried millions of times on my WK and have never been able to get em to come on ... so my advise is run to your nearest autozone or o'reillys and ask them to borrow the scanner and run the codes ... it's FREE ...

lol frustrating right?!! Im going to look at an H3 Alpha tomorrow. I'd love to get another sports car but not with the Cleveland winters. Im thinking the 5.3L in the Alpha could sound pretty mean with headers, muffler, and a camshaft upgrade. They're pretty small inside but at this point i just want something that can handle the snow and be reliable!

Reliability is the big key that's why I'm moving to a sedan from the Jeep plus in TX I really don't need a big rig to start with.

Re: Transmission over temp?

That engine eats transmissions for lunch! lol Im frustrated but i can understand to some extent. I just dont think im making that much more power to keep blowing transmissions. I added over 200hp to my CTS-V and that tranny held up just fine! (the rear differential was another story). I wonder what it would cost to swap to a manual tranny. If they are putting Hemi's in the JKs with manual trannies, then surely putting one in a wk is at least possible.

Meanwhile back at the ranch... My Jeep is up at RDP in the presence of bdkarma waiting for them to take a look at it. I'd imagine if anyone could do the conversion they could.
