Flat Towing WITH a WK?
1 Attachment(s)
Okay guys got a question for ya. I have recently been keeping my eyes peeled for a car trailer, but being an 18 yr old college student I just don't have 2 grand to be spending on a trailer that will only be used a couple times a year.

My friend found an old tow bar in his basement that he is going to give to me. Assuming that I can find the right brackets for it, do you think my 07' 4.7L will be able to tow my 95' YJ for about 2 1/2 - 3 hours?

I have a house with 36 acres of land in upstate NY near Hunter Mtn. and would love to let my YJ graze on the property. I just don't feel comfortable with sitting in, and driving a Wrangler with 235k miles on it, for 3 hours. This is my main goal, secondary goal is to tow it down to my Condo in Myrtle Beach.
The only thing I am really concerned about, is the power it would have pulling up a mountain pass (which there is a 30 min addition bypass if necessary). But also, the wheelbase while towing it, along with it tracking properly behind me.

I'm looking into a Curt or Hidden Hitch class III trailer hitch. Only thing I would have to do is get the wiring harnesses. My jeep has the towing package already installed on it, with the tow/haul mode and trans cooler.

Specs on the YJ: ~3200# weight. 33x12.5 M/T tires, 4 inches of lift, 235k miles, aerodynamics of a brick.

Any opinions, or suggestions are appreciated,

Re: Flat Towing WITH a WK?
I tow my ZJ on a 20 foot car hauler with my WK. I also pulled a Willys Jeep on a car hauler through 7 states with my WJ 4.7 Limited. I think you will be fine.
