HELP!! Weird electrical issue

Alright, so I am home on leave from the Air Force. My jeep hasn't been driven on a regular basis at all just here and there when my dad felt like running it to keep the battery good and the tires from having a flat spot.

So anyway, I'm driving around these past two days and all of the warning lights will suddenly turn on as if the car was just started, and go away again like the initial turn on cycle. This happened two or three times in a row and then stopped and was acting normal for the rest of the day. The first time this happened the jeep was cold and it seemed to stop once it warmed up completely. Today however, I had no problems when it was cold, but it did the same thing once it warmed up. At one point it even had an "service electronic brake" notice come up. That went away with restarting the jeep.

Any ideas as to what is causing this? or how to fix it? If it happens again, I will try to take a video with my phone.

sounds like the battery is not fully charged or is having a hard time keeping fully charged.

Some other potential answers for you.

Coincidentally, mine hasn't done it since I asked this question...Probably will start again now that I just said that.

My guess would be the ignition switch.

stab in the dark would be an ignition switch... there is probably a bunch of codes, some "U" codes being communication issues. It would need to see a dealer or equivalent to properly diagnose it.

awesome thanks, i wasn't really thinking ignition since the engine never died out on me. I had the ignition crap out on my old car and everything just died, lights, engine, etc.

Sorry for bringing this back from the dead but I just had this exact thing happen to me on my way home this morning. Did you solve your problem? And what did you do?

Night, it's either the ignition switch or the battery. I don't know when they changed the part and relocated it, but before 08 (maybe 07) the switch was lower on the dash and was a bad unit. If you hang alot of keys on your ring, it tended to fail.

Batteries in these models seem to last about 3-4 years (no matter the brand or CCA), if you're near that mark, I'd bet it's the battery. I had this same thing happen, along with an epidose of 'limp home' mode before I changed mine, no probs after that.

Add me to the list with this issue.

When the ignition switch is changed in an 05 how do I deal with the key? Is the new switch re keyed to match the existing key?
