HOW TO: 08+ SRT8 seats in 05-07 WK

the seat pads are actually plug and play, but the wires are not. with a very simple swap, they become plug and play with the 05-07 harnesses.

disconnect the negative battery terminal after unbolting the front seats but before unplugging any wires! failure to do this can result in costly repairs!

back seats
the rear seats are super simple and plug and play. but you will need an impact wrench.

1. remove the 2 bolts on the bottom of the lower part of the seat.

2. slide the lower seat up and out to remove it.

3. remove the 4 bolts holding down the rear seat back and the one bolt holding the seats belt. (bolts are circled in the picture below)

4. loosen the 2 lower seat belt bolts near the doors and unhook the bottom part of the seatbelt (these bolts do not have to be removed)

5. pull up on the rear part of the seat and remove it from the jeep.

6. install the new seats buy going backwards through each of the last steps.

front seats

the following steps are done on both the new seats and the old seats

2. remove all plastic cladding from both sides on the seat base. all of this is done with a phillips head screwdriver.
3. now remove the seat back buy removing the two bolts on each side and the 24mm seat belt bolt.

4. unbolt the two bolts under the lower seat pad and remove the seat from the frame.

notes:

-since the heated seats wiring is the same and all other wires only go to the frame, the seats will now be plug and play with your factory wiring.

-you must keep your old power seat controls, the new buttons will not match your old harness, they simple pop out and can be swapped.

-you must also keep your old seat belt pretensioners, using the new pretensioner will cause the airbag light to go off.

I don't have a power seat on the passenger side. Do I just run power from the driver side by splicing???

i had factory power seats, but i think scott added power on his so he would know better than me.

I had a professional do my passenger seat power...thats what i recommend. the WK's are VERY weird when it comes to the electrical systems.

I didnt have to swap anything over either like the OP did. I put the seats in and plugged them up and it worked perffect after i got the passenger seat calibrated at the dealer.

yep, you only have to swap out the parts when you are putting the black 08+ seats into a 05-07. i would definately recommend looking for black seats instead of gray and doing the simple swap.

Re: HOW TO: 08+ SRT8 seats in 05-07 WK

Sorry to bring up this old thread, but just have a simple question which search did not completely answer:

I have an '05 with power/heated front seats (no memory). Will SRT8 seats be plug-n-play if the are power/heated/memory? I know the memory will not work since I don't have the door module but will I have any problems with either power or heat by just simply unbolting in replacing the seats? Also, will there be any airbag issues? Thanks.

Re: HOW TO: 08+ SRT8 seats in 05-07 WK

i had power and heat in my seats too, but 08-10 seats are not plug and play with 05-07 WKs regardless of options. if you buy gray srt seats, they will be plug and play. if you buy black seats you will have to do what i did. as long as you disconnect the negative terminal before starting there will be no airbag issues.

Re: HOW TO: 08+ SRT8 seats in 05-07 WK

Thanks for the reply. So quite simply, if I install seats from an 06 or 07 SRT8, I will have no issues with my 2005 (direct plug and play). Time to find a "cheap" set of seats in medium slate gray.

Re: HOW TO: 08+ SRT8 seats in 05-07 WK

yes, they will plug right in. they make two colors, gray for 06-07 and black for 08-10. i personally like the black alot better. the swap is super simple. all of the wires are on the seat track so all you have to do is swap the new seat track with your current seat track. there is a gray set on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2007-...Q5fAccessories

they were only $800 the other day, so i am sure they would accept that as an offer.

Re: HOW TO: 08+ SRT8 seats in 05-07 WK

Sorry to bump an old thread. Would it be possible to get the heated seats working in a 05 Laredo that didn't come with them from the factory?

I sent the OP a PM just now but beyond purchasing the module for the heated seats what else do you need to do to tie into the factory setup.
