E85 Ethanol Laredo X

My 2011 Laredo X has the Ethanol E85/ Gasoline gas cap which according to the owners manual "means" that I can use both E8 5 or regular gasoline. However, according to my dealer this is not a flex fuel WK2.

Is there a more reliable way to know if I can use ethanol, besides the gas cap?

Dude...LOL...the gas cap is made to spec. Its a reliable source. Its fine man.

What's funnier is that when I asked, the dealer was clueless. They had one Laredo X with the FlexFuel placard and told me that was a $1,000 option.

Just remember, E-10 or E-85 will develope less thermal energy and horse power. Thus, less gas mileage.

With a V6? Regular gas is fine with her. I also wouldn't put E85 in it. That is the biggest rip off running.

Only if the pcm can't take advantage of the extra octane of e85 and increase engine timing... I believe jeep advertises the same power on the v6 regardless of fuel

The fuel doesn't provide the same energy as non Ethonal. There's plenty of documentation to show that. Run 3-4 tanks of good old fuel vs E-10 or E-85 and check your mileage and feel the performance difference.

I have a limited with a v-8 and so far so good (2500 miles so far). using 89 octane as per the manufacturer's recommendation, but all fuel in NY is 10% ethanol. book says not to use ethanol and dealer said it shouldn't matter. anyone have any thoughts?

There's not much choice except E-10 or E-85.
