06 SRT 8 in the Snow?

Hello, Just picked up a red SRT 8 and it really is some vehicle. But we had snow yesterday, 25 inches, and I need to find snows for this bad boy as this will be my every day driver. Been looking on the web, but doesn't appear you can down size to a 19 or 18 inch rim with snows. Cannot find anyone who makes a compatable rim. Help Anyone.

Will the rims from a '10 Wrangler Unlimted fit, my son just changed his out and they are sitting in my driveway?

I don't think those wrangler wheels will fit. Finding something that gets around the Brembo brakes is going to be your challenge. Some are running a winter setup of reproduction rims with the Bridgestone Blizzaks or Pirelli Scorpions.

Hopefully some others will chime in.

get the same rims as you have now but a copy...at factoryreproductions.com or on eBay. get 4 wheels 9 x 20 for winter rims. then get you some 255/45 20 snows. blizzackVM1 comes in proper size..........

factoryreproductions sells tires and tpms too. they can set you up in one shipment......

^^^^^^^^someone posted they sold out scooter. and i do remember from years past that they only buy a certain amount of wheels. tires 12 months but the Special editition 18's they sell are in limited numbers. plus the cost is the same as the reps. and doug and those guys at FR do a nice job.

Frankie got his blizzaks and reps there.

thank you guys. One last question: I thought the problem would be clearing the calipers: I see on ebay they sell a "spacer ring" that bolts to the rooter and gives you an additional 1 or 1.5 inches: would this work with the 18 inch jeep rims and SAFE?

You can buy the Factory reproductions wheels at www.quadratec.com as well. Chrome, Black or Grey.

Spacers are safe as long as they are bolted on and are torqued properly. i had 1.5" spacers on my Cherokee with 35" tires for 3 years and never ever once had an issue. Also use some blue lock tite on the spacer lug nuts that hold the spacer to the hub/rotor.

Just go with the Conti Extreme contact DWS tires in the 275/315 Combo. They work Excellently in the snow, look cool, and are affordable to boot! Oh they also stick like glue in the dry, WAY better than the 275/315 Michellin Lattitude HPs I replaced. It is like a completely different vehicle with these tires.
