So there is no tension at all on your gas pedal?

Re: Throttle stuck open help

it's stuck almost at half throttle and I had to put my feet to the floor on the brakes to keep it from moving.

Re: Throttle stuck open help

Check the steel cable that goes to the throttle body. Make sure its lubed and it moves nicely. Also check to make sure that there are no snags for some reason, however, i don't know why there would be if you were not playing around with it. Also check around the foot pedal and make sure nothing is stuck back there or obstructing.

Oh i did I played with it to see if it would go back in the parking lot of a church, everything was smoothe well if you can call it that, but no mater what I did the throttle wouldn't go back.

I would have used some wd40 on it but I didn't have any or useful tools.

Ill wait for the more knowledgeable folks to chime in and see what they say. I never had this issue but heard of people that have with dakotas so i can only recommend so much.

Re: Throttle stuck open help

Probably will. However, hopefully some TB experts will chime in. Maybe this is a good excuse to get a new TB for your straight six.

Re: Throttle stuck open help

Well i wont be much help but i will throw out some ideas.

First, if you have a flat screwdriver remove the air tube to the throttle body and check the butterfly in the TB and make sure it can move freely and that the TB is not all gunked up. Check and make sure the throttle cable can move freely. Check that there is nothing inside the jeep keeping the gas pedal stuck.

Thats all i got/ remember from when i had my 4.0

Re: Throttle stuck open help

I know, when I called home I asked my brother to bring some tools but he's an ass and didn't bring anything! I was going to take out the air filter and resinator to expose the throttle body and then go from there but no my tard brother. . never mind. . Alls I know is that I aint letin my dad touch it until I've had my way with it.
