wow.. i knew snow mode made a difference, but i didn't think it made that much of a difference. glad i was wrong. I've used snow mode a lot lately.. basically whenever there is snow on the ground, but next time i should play around in auto and then compare it to snow just to see how much of a difference it makes.

Do you just press one snow button? Or do you need to do something in addition? Don't have my wk2 yet

Not sure why it couldn't get going too well in the other modes. That was not a particularly tough situation.

I guess I am biased, I don't like the select terrain type systems. If you are going to go electronic 4wd make it completely hands free, just give the driver the chance to select ground clearance height and 4-lo when called for.

On my FX35, snow mode dampened the throttle response. Vehicle felt like 100 hp was taken away and 1000 pds were added. Nothing I could not do with a lighter foot. What exactly does it do in the WK2?

Yeah, it's not easy to tell by the video, but he seemed to be on fairly level ground and he said the snow wasn't deep. I wonder why AUTO mode wouldn't allow the vehicle to move? Someone mentioned in another post that SNOW mode locks the center diff, so the front and rear axles each get 50% of the engine's power/torque.

Even when he put it in SNOW mode, the RPMs rose quite a bit without the speedo needle moving at all. How does that happen if he's in gear? I'd think that the speedo would register a speed if he was spinning his tires with the RPMs above idle speed. Weird.

I believe that one of the changes with selecting Snow mode is that the transmition starts in 2nd gear, not in first, so tires dont spin when you hit the gas. I read this somewhere but I can't recall where. I'll post it back if I can find it.

Yeah, but he had the tach well above idle and the speedo was still on zero. How is that possible if he was in gear and on the gas?

He said he is on a steep hill. I'm sure he didn't have snow tires, otherwise I'm sure Auto would have gotten him moving.

Wow, I think it should be more like a Jeep in auto mode not like BMW x5. I am considering WK2 in near future but snow performance is very important to me since I live in Wisconsin. It maybe does not have snow tires but for shure has NEW all season's and should be moving in other modes. This is big question for the front axel set-up with traction control trying to make something happen..... Would anyone please compare it to WJ or WK Quadra drive. I like how the old vary-locks work on 04' WJ Overland.
