2000 wj 4.7 V8 2wd

After having my radiator replaced. I found a leak from the heater hose that goes to the heater core. My mechanic said that he would have no choice but to order the part from the dealership. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can order one and just pay my mechanic for labor. Or maybe even do it myself, if I can get the instructions.

Re: hose
I remember that my 2000 4.7 had heater hoses that were bent metal tubing with the hoses only at the ends.

However my 2004 has heater hoses that are rubber all the way, and could be replaced simply by buying some of the proper size hose and cutting it to fit.

I do not see any reason why you could not replace the ones on your 2000 the same way, just do away with the metal tubing and run hose all the way.

Re: hose
I was thinking of cutting both metal tubes where they meet the hose. Inserting couplings on each end and running straight hose for both heater lines. If that would work is there any protective sleeve I need to use to prevent it from melting?

Re: hose
Just keep your new hoses routed away from the exhaust manifold and they should be fine.

I don't understand what you mean by cutting hose and using couplings.

Just remove the clamps at the heater core and the engine block, carefully remove the old hoses (they may be kind of though to get off) slip new screw tape type clamps onto the new hoses then slip your new hoses over the nipples, tighten the clamps. 2 hoses 4 clamps.

Take those metal tubing type hoses off and throw them away.

Be sure to use the purge port and the correct type coolant when refilling the system.

Re: hose
I agree with vic. Just replace the metal lines with all rubber. You'll save yourself ALOT of $$$ cause I'm sure the stealer wants some ungodly amount for the oem lines. Cut a piece of rubber off off your lines and bring it to the parts store so can get the right size hose.
