uconnect 430 n

is there a guide on how to get all of my contacts into the system for blue tooth? the manual is pretty lacking. is it possible to have your numbers on the touch screen rather then have to say them? what if someone has a 3 different numbers?

I may be wrong but when I pair up my Blackberry to the 430N all of my contacts in the BB are in the 430N without me doing anything. If I want to call my wife for example and I speak "Call Terry" it will ask me which number I want to use. Home, work or mobile. I am happy with the way my Blackberry works with the system.

Of course I am not sure about other phones.

Works the same for me with the iPhone. I'm happy with the functionality.

bozer, you will not be punching any numbers into a virtual onscreen keypad because there is none on the 430n. That would not be a convenience upgrade over just dialing on your phone, IMO. And FWIW, you CAN still dial from your phone when it's hooked up via Bluetooth if you prefer.

At any rate, the integration is very seamless in my experience with an iPhone4. I'm not sure where the phonebook goes or if the 430n just accesses it as needed via BT.

Re your concern about contacts who have multiple numbers. This was fully anticipated by the designers. Let's say you want to call your wife and she's got multiples numbers. Just say: "Call SugarBooger, mobile". Or you can say: "Call SugarBooger, spa" or "Call SugarBooger, tennis pro's house". The system will say it back to you for confirmation then put the call through. It will play off of the tags you've assigned to her numbers in your address book. It is very intuitive and the VR is pretty good most of the time. I've been very happy with it and folks I call say the sound quality is excellent on their end.

Ok I'll give it a try today. I think I just need to repair my phone with the system. On my Lexus you could import and then have speed dial buttons to touch on the screen which was very easy to do and you wouldnt need to look down and press numbers on the phone. Will take some getting used to using voice inpput as voice input sucked on my lexus.

I predict that your learning curve will be very flat. Also, you might take advantage of the Help feature that learns your voice as it asks you to repeat a number of common prompts.

I agree. The voice dialing on the 430N is very very accurate. I only have one person (with a difficult/odd last name) that consistently fails on voice dialing. All other names work great.

Cperez also explained it to me and after a few tries it became self-evident. I like the way it does bring up the name and then asks if you wont to call home, cell or office. I also "voice trained" and the uConnect and all voice commands works much better. Good luck with that Bberry beauty....we are loving ours. I have washed mine twice in four days to get the salt off:D

Since you only have one problem contact, depending on how anal you are, you might try renaming that person's entry just for purposes of voice dialing. I am anal. That would bug me if I had to do it, but it would work.

I, OTOH, would probably just stop calling that person because they inconvenienced me. :D

Yukon, I don't have the heart to strip out your font tags when I quote your comments. It has become such a signature look for you.:)

Did you know that you can string certain voice commands together? I have done this when pairing a phone (saves a ton of time) and also when voice dialing (saves a little time). Don't just say a name and then wait for it to ask you which number you want to dial for that contact. Just say "Call Norma Snockers, mobile". Your 430n will reply: "Calling Norma Snockers, mobile. Is this correct?" Give it a try.

Others have commented on my crazy use of font, I like it, they can go, well you know where..... stringing, I tried it after your other help and it works great. I did rename some of my entries. I have loaded 80 or so CD's, the hard way while driving around...some I have not listened to in years and still have over 3/4 of HDD empty. I cannot remember the last time we have had so much fun with a new vehicle.

You must be doing some driving, because feeding CDs is a slow process. I spent the weekend ripping CDs, fixing track names and organizing music folders on a flash drive. My wife and kids finally got tired of commenting on my frequent trips to the garage to load music. I also installed the Mopar cross bars this weekend and posted a walkthrough w/pics on this thread: http://www.jeepgarage.org/f156/roof-rack-cross-bar-mounting-process-16025.html

I am extremely happy with the 430n and I have not had one shred of regret that I didn't wait for the phantomware 730n RHR. Glad you are loving yours too.
