My 1999 WJ I6 4.0L Vibrations?

So the past months i've been getting weird vibrations only when im idle or at a stop light sitting there in drive. It will vibrate in a pattern and it shakes my vehicle for a second. REALLY annoying. But as soon as i start accelerating again, it goes away ASAP. lol.

So I was searching online for jeep parts, and i think this is what i need. But I need someone advice if this would fix my jeep's problem. Someone who knows the issue...

Featured Item: Crankshaft Vibration Dampner Pulley 4.0 Liter Grand Cherokee 1993-1999
This is a brand new crankshaft vibration pulley for 4.0 liter engine Grand Cherokee's. This will fit all Jeep Grand Cherokees from 1993-1999 with the 4.0 liter engine. These pulleys tend to crack in the middle causing a vibration in the engine or a rough idle among other problems. Replace your crankshaft vibration dampner pulley today.

My wife's '04 idles rough did since brand new. I think many 4.0Ls do. The harmonic balancer probably is not the problem. IMO.

Oh, you can't adjust the idle. The computer controls it.

the seal on the intake made the idle smoother for me :)

Hey Andrew, while it vibrates, do the RPM's go down to like 500 or something and just for a breif moment? my friends 2002 WJ was doing something like this and he replaced his IAT sensor I believe of maybe the MAF sensor and it put the idle back to when it was new. let me know!

I know a handful of people with the later 4.0 and had the same issue and could never find an answer. My friends 01 XJ still does it and my ex's 04 TJ did it.

The RPMs, when Idle, stays around 1, but will move up and down just about constantly. You can even hear the idle go up and down. You can notice it well. Also, when I go in reverse, it vibrates ALOT. Like something isnt right. Not normal.

All I know is, my jeep never use to do this. Now it does.
Something is causing it. I will have to check with the shop that I always go to. They do Jeeps only.

they're must be something funky with your transmissoin, do you mean when it first engages in the reverse gear, cuz the body tilts to one side like when I rev it.

Re: My 1999 WJ I6 4.0L Vibrations?

Well, there is problems with my transmission. When It shifts to the 2nd gear, it will will shake like the gear is stripped. You can hear it and feel it shake. You never know when it will happen, but i know its shift to first gear smoothly, and the other gears. But 2nd gear is the issue.

It had 3 transmission leaks.
All fixed.
Now I need a tranny dropped.
The reverse and drive is slow. Takes 3 secs to kick in when I put it in reverse or drive.

Maybe that's why i have bad vibrations?

The jeep is in working progress...
It will be brand new when i'm done. Replacing everything on it.

I think that I'll need to replace everything on mine if it keeps making noises at this rate. it now makes a funny noise when I hit small bumps and big ones make the noise last longer...
