and in with the new
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n...9/IMG_0018.jpg
its a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee. They were getting rid of these to make room for the 2011's. So i got a great price on it

I know i know this post is in the install section. So on with the install.
Once i return home i will be able to really do something great with this jeep, but for now I have started off with just trying to improve the factory speakers. With 6x9's in the doors i should really get some great mid bass up front. so since i have had great results with infinity i decied to stick with them. Here is a pic of the infinity kappas i picked up at a great price. Just a tad better looking than the stock ones ;D

Re: Butch's 2010 install

I know that alot of people complain when someone recommends peel and seal as a alternative to dynamat, but i have used it on many installs and everyones installs including my own have turned out great even after years of use. So i didn't hesitate to use it again.

Thanks for the nice words everyone, and brad dont be scared to remove the doors. just a few screws and the rest is just clips that pop off. You have a great start with your system, but you are missing out on so much with thoes factory speakers. trust me, do your self a favor and switch them out. :D

Re: Butch's 2010 install

do you have the premium sound group with the amp? in the LX cars if you have the factory amp you have to use 2ohm speakers so you just couldnt replace them with anything from the market.. not sure if its the same in the jeeps as well..

infiniti make some 2ohm speakers is the one you installed one of those?

awesome start for mods btw.. been planning to upgrade but dont want the kicker.

Re: Butch's 2010 install

No this is not the premium system. i can install anything i want. but there are ways around the premium system's by using adapters, but i see no reason you would have to use 2 ohm speakers. Usually factory systems are 4 ohm. and even if it was optimized for 2 ohm 4 ohm would still work just with less wattage.

Ok here is the rest of the speakers. I have some 3.5" powerbass for now, but i will be switching them out as soon as some infinity kappa 3.5's that match my 6x9 show up on ebay (they are discontinued).

Re: Butch's 2010 install

Well here is the last thing i can do till i get home to build my box and install amps. It is a JVC AVX-810. I have loved JVC recievers since the early 90's and see no need to change now.

http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n...9/IMG_0119.jpg

I had to remove the plastic bracket that went across the factory deck. it wouldnt allow enough clearance to put in the new deck.

http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n...9/IMG_0124.jpg

I must say the JVC looks, and fits really nice in there. I also installed a axxess ASWC witch allows my stering wheel controls to be used with my new deck. and it works great.
