4.7 into 4.7 HO

I have a 2000 Grand Cherokee with a 4.7 non HO in it that was recently wrecked. I have a 2001 Grand Cherokee body with a blown 4.7 HO in the works and was wondering what the differences are between the 2 or if I can just drop the older 4.7 in. Are there differences in the transmissions or computers? Would my non HO computer work without major wiring issues? Anybody done this before?? Thanks for the help

I've checked around and all the posts are on swapping an HO motor into a non HO Jeep. I have a non HO motor with low miles so I guess I'm trying to go the other way.

I think if you used the HO intake and tb on the non HO everything would hook up to the HO computer in the new Jeep. You're good to go with the tranny.

oh I see....you want to add the non ho to the 4.7 ho. I would rebuild the 4.7 ho

The only problems you might run into should be listed in my swap write-up in the sticky. I understand you are putting a non-ho in place of an ho. You should use the non-ho PCM with the non-ho, then the knock sensors won't be looked for by the PCM and the sensors that are on your non-ho should read ok. I think you can use your HO wiring harness on your non-ho if you have the same O2 sensors on both of those engines. One or both might have a right and left bank in the y-pipe, I noticed in my swap that the newer HO had different plugs and an additional o2 sensor.

Re: 4.7 into 4.7 HO

It should work. I would just pull the 4.7 out with the engine harness and all, and install it into the h.o. jeep. I would swap the computer too, like previously mentioned. those are both Jtec jeeps, so there shouldnt be any differences hooking the harness up into the new jeep. If you wanted to mess with the motor, you could swap cams from the h.o. into the 4.7 along with the intake manifold. You'll have close to the same power as a high output, just without the forged internals.
