2009 Overland 5.7 questions/opinions

hey guys,
So i originally was going to get a SRT8, but decuded i liked the little luxery and economy of the Overland a little better (not that it's hugely economical lol) and was wondering if anyone had any opinions/concerns/things i need to know.

According to wkjeeps the options are as follows
Quote:

2009 Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4

Engines/Transmissions:
3.0L V6 TURBO DIESEL ENGINE with 5-SPD AUTO W5J400 TRANSMISSION (22h)*
5.7L HEMI VCT MDS ENGINE with 5-SPD AUTOMATIC 545RFE TRANSMISSION (25h)
*Note: 3.0L Turbo Diesel models will be VIN'd as 2008 model year
Interior:
LEATHER TRIM SEATS W/EDGE WELTING
-DK KHAKI/LT GRAYSTONE
-DK SLATE GRAY/LT GRAYSTONE

Options:
17X7.5 ALUMINUM WHEELS
ENGINE BLOCK HEATER
MOPAR CHROME EDITION GROUP
REAR DVD ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM GROUP
Exterior colors: BRIGHT SILVER METALLIC CLEAR COAT
BRILLIANT BLACK CRYSTAL PEARL COAT
LIGHT GRAYSTONE PEARL COAT
MODERN BLUE PEARL COAT - New Color for 2009
OLIVE GREEN MET. CLEAR COAT - New Color for 2009
RED ROCK CRYSTAL PEARL COAT
Is there anything missing there? Anyone have an 09 Overland and wanna swing in some opinions?

Any thoughts on which interior is nicer? The grey or saddle brown? The Saddle looks a lot nicer in person than in pictures I notice, but i do also like the lighter interior. I'm probably 1-2 weeks away from purchase.

i have 09 hemi overland with lite interior and love it, after i pumped about $2000-$2500 into it....my own preference. i wanted a sportier suspension and front rotors that won't warp. absolutely buy a catch can regardless on how you drive. basically i wanted the srt feel but needed ground clearance because of hunting, quadding..etc. if you drive 'normal' you probably will like the ride as is. good luck

i think the gray in overlands is the dark slate which is actually black. the black interior is the nicest interior color IMO.

Nope. I have a Black 08 overland with the saddle interior. It fits the jeep so well i dont think i would get anything else. Other than that you will enjoy everything that comes along with it.

You could always sport it up a bit too with exhaust, CAI, and a programmer. If you got all of that i think you will be even more happy you got it.

How is the ride? Is it extremely top heavy to the point of having no fun at all in the twisties? Obviosuly it's not goin to handle like a sports car. I know that.

Shock absorber control in stock form is appalling. HD Bilsteins and SRT sway bars sort that for a much nicer compromise.

okay, now keep in mind that i'm a very novice when it comes to mods. I know how to buy them and the benefits of them, but not always how to install them at all, so most of any mod i buy would have to go through a repair shop for installation.

I'm a Police Officer out in Long Island NY so hopefully there are a few otherrs out here in my area too that can help out with things.

you would be able to install all the suspension upgrades except the front struts. if you've never replaced struts before...they can be a real challenge but if you have the right tools you should be able to change them out. i am not happy with my bilstein HD's at all. when driving in a straight line, excellerating if you hit a bump the front end of the jeep starts to feel lite. i noticed the sway bars made the most difference for that tippy feeling when driving spirited around curves. the bilstein's are a vast improvement over the stockers. when i changed the rear oem shocks (at 8,000mi)...one of the rear shocks was totally dead. when you pushed the shock down their wasn't any rebound. anyway there are members on this board that have talked about a Koni hydraulic shock called FSD i think. the FSD's are supposed to be better than the bilstein hd's. they say it is supposed to take that floaty feeling away. i beleive they are for sale now but haven't heard any reviews that i know of yet. i am definetly going to try the fsm's. i am probably going to sell my bilstein's(approx. 12k miles on them) once i get the fsd's. pm me if you're interested.
