V8 highway gas mileage

What kind of gas mileage are you experiencing on your 2011 Grand Cherokee? (V8 engines only please)

Re: V8 highway gas mileage

300 miles in, so only part of one tank so far, but the EVIC says 17.7mpg. About 60/40 town/highway driving.

And unless gas gets to $6 a gallon mpg ratings are pretty overrated.

Usually 18 to 19mpg on the highway. Lots of 70mph to 80mph. Actually seeing a little higher mpg with 87 octane than 89 octane.

First tank 60/40 city I'd say, 17.2 for me.

Best was a little over 20 hwy w/cc on, Jeep empty of cargo. 14.5 on ski trip to Vermont with 4 people, car loaded, skis, boards on top.
Driving in city only is 10 - 11 mpg without being heavy on the gas.

Same here. I got right at 12mpg on my recent tank.

Re: V8 highway gas mileage

On non-mountainous highway at 65mph or under I'm seeing 20-22mpg and got a bit better than that a couple times where I was forced to drive slower and had some tail wind. I've only had one cross country trip (IL to GA and back) and overall, with stops and a couple very short excursions, it was just under 20mpg (averaged to and from). This was with four people and gear but no trailer. If I get pass-happy the mpg drops down to 17-18mpg highway driving.

Wow im impressed (in a bad way). Thats worse than my 425HP 2008 Grand Cherokee SRT8 was. You guys must do some pretty hardcore city driving. Either that or its just all of the worst possible condition including it being a brand new engine, cold winter etc etc. Good thing I live pretty far from the city and only do nice open far suburban driving. I would not be happy if I was seeing those numbers.

17-18 from dallas to colorado (breckenridge/keystone), 20-22 on the way back running 65-75, with small town stops. Guess which state has more elevation :D

Holiday road trip on a level freeway netted me 19MPG.

Highway, 19-21 mpg
City, 12-15 mpg

The V8 drinks a lot in city, stop and go type driving. On the highway it does great, as others have posted. It is also much louder than the V6 at normal cruising speeds. The V6 gets annoying if you are climbing a hill and it is at higher rpms because of it.
