2004 Door Remotes

For my doors to unlock, I have to stand next to my Jeep in order for my doors to open. New batteries did not help.. My dealer says all 2004's have this problem and nothing can be done. Is this a true statement? Perhaps I need to change some sort of a module?? Any help will be appreciated.

The range sucks. There's no two ways about it...it's terrible.

The range on the homelink garage door opener in my Limited is awesome though. Kinda wierd.

I think there is a VERY long winded, over complicated way you might be able to extend the range (read somewhere about it), but if it's really a PITA for you, maybe consider a new aftermarket keyless entry/alarm?

My factory one works from about 30ft on a good day. I've learned to live with it.

Mine is working quite well. Normally from 10 m distance it works ok. The receiver itself is part of the Passenger Door Module, don't know if it can be removed and placed somewhere else to have a better reception

Mine seem to work pretty good too. I can unlock the Jeep in the driveway from inside the house. Homelink range IS awsome! I swear I can open my garage from a quarter mile away!

I'm guessing both of your remotes act the same and have fresh batteries?

I know I saw somewhere that someone tried accessig the unit in the driver's door and extending the antenna, but it seemed waaaaaay too involved for what you get out of it.

Your issue with "pushing the button 4 times" sounds more like a battery or actual fob problem.

I never got the chance to replace the batteries in my factory remotes. But yeah the range wasn't fantastic. The range on the remotes on the viper remote starter/alarm I had installed is phenominal though :)

I replaced the batteries and the FOB.. Same... problem still exists. Next month, I am having the module replaced. Most of the cost will be covered by my warranty.
