What kind of modifications has everyone done for their am/ fm radio? I recently installed an HD radio as well. I would assume a better antenna would be the best way to go?
Anything else out there?
Re: Improving reception
yea, reception is all in the antenna, nothing to do with stereo itself as the antenna can be thought of as "catching" the radio waves and sending them into your stereo
a lot of the antennas (shorty antennas and other aftermarket ones) don't improve reception but don't necessarily hurt it
the ugly 4' stock antennas (did I say ugly) do serve a great purpose. despite being skinny, flimsy, etc, the taller the antenna the better reception
if you have a larger surface area on an antenna, or taller height to an antenna, there is a much greater chance that you will be able to pick up the signal better and more clear
ever see the 8' whip antenna on fbi or cops vehicles? exactly the purpose, ugly but effective
certain antennas can be designed to hone in on a certain freq. range but i haven't seen any like this for vehicles...
