Moisture under carpet?

Has anyone ever had any issues with moisture under the carpet in their wk?

I used to always have water leaks in my Xj, it was inevitable and a design flaw in them that there was always some place that leaked so the floors rot out fast.

I was just detailing my jeep and took out my husky liner on the drivers side. I noticed that where the clip is in the floor there was moisture on the underside of the mat so i went exploring. I found that under the carpet between the floor and the insulation there was a very fine moisture under there, no signs of any leak source, no rot (yet, knock on wood). I blotted up what i could, it was not heavy afterall, and i had some very large moisture absorbent packs (like the ones that come in shoes) and put them under there to help dry it out for now.

I cant find any source for a leak, (no drip marks or anything) my power wire for my amp is fully sealed with rtv. the carpet itself is dry just under that layer of insulation.

I checked around else where on the jeep and it all seemed dry. WTF

My sunroof does not leak (yet, knock on wood) no drips any where and we have had some amazing torrential rain the past month/week.

Now if i were to test it and i did get water from the A pillar, that is just the sun roof drain clogged right?

or it could be pinched... most likely just clogged tho

I just had my sunroof re-calibrated on tuesday $60. They flashed it and it's now closing properly...

I will check it next time it rains or with a hose.

What you can do is open the sunroof all the way, get into the cabin, poke your head up to see and with a cup of water and pour the water into the track where the drains are. You will be able to see if water is draining through them or not. I did this after they fixed it to make sure i didn't have any more problems.

Re: Moisture under carpet?

I think there were a few reasons a '05 WK could leak:

Sun roof drains pinched or plugged.

The door seal area, not the seal itself, but the strip behind the seal metal to metal din't have enough sealer.

Roof rack bolts, if tampered with might need RTV to seal again.

Reference this posting from me showing a invoice on my sunroof leaking issues/water in cabin. This shows what was the issue with my vehicle. http://www.jeepgarage.org/f181/leaking-sunroof-1674.html
