Dude...it's 9 degrees...it took my body a few minutes to get started after going outside.

Mine started a little sluggishly too, but I was expecting it too. It's friggin brutally cold out there.

In my area Northern Virginia it was about 20*F. The Revved up to 1k RPM and stayed there for about a minute.

That's pretty normal that your 4.0L would have a hard start. That's how mine was.

It was -2* F here when I went to work on Friday (I have pictures of the temp). Once it reaches negatives, I declare it cold. Jeep started up just like normal. :)

Never had a cold start problem with my jeeps, the 93 ZJ 4.0L or the 01 WJ 4.7L. They may turn over an extra time or two before catching at -10, but they have always fired quickly!

Mine hard starts all the time after sitting a while lol, but with the cold this morning it was no different. How old are your plugs, coil and fuel regulator?

brand new plugs coil and the reg are prolly just as old as the jeep

Maybe when it warms up a bit you should change the regulator. I dunno if you know, but its a filter/regulator unit. I suspect thats whats causing my hard start, but for you, i'd just chalk it up to that deathly cold we got.

Now lets hope for a blizzard this week!:brows:

Try adjusting the bands??? Its part of the regular maintenance schedule for the 42RE, they suggest every 2 years or 24k. My tranny is gahbage if its too cold, holds 1st way too long. I plan on adjusting the bands as soon as it warms up some.
