Blower fan intermittent speeds?

I bought a 2011 GC in August while it was still warm out here in Wisconsin. As it started to get colder I started to use the heat and front defrost more and more. So I don’t know if it will do it with the air-conditioning too. But what’s happening is I will have the blower fan on full blast and when I put the GC in drive or reverse the blower fan will slow down. When I come to a stop sign and make a 90 degree turn the fan will blow harder again when the gas is pressed during the turn but slow right back down as the wheel is straightened out. It usually happens within the first few minutes of driving.

The other day it was -21 out and I remote started the GC. It ran for about 10 minutes when I got in it but it was still cold. The blower fan had completely stopped working. I hit every button on the counsel put it into auto back to manual and still nothing. I drove my son to school then straight to the dealership. It ran for about an hour from the time I remote started till I got to the dealership and pulled it into their heated service area. It set in the heated area for a half an hour then it was pulled out to the lot and sat for several hours. When they started it to pull into a stall, the heater fan suddenly worked again. So they gave it back to me and emailed Chrysler about it to see if they had any information. Still haven’t heard anything from Chrysler and the intermittent fan speed is still happening.

The mechanic tried to tell me it was the auto climate control but it is almost never in auto its always in manual. Anyone else experiencing anything like this?

On mine I didn't experience it stop working but I did notice it change speed and it appeared to be related to the throttle position. It seemed really strange. Happened first time yesterday when it got rather cold here in NYC.

I too have noticed...sometimes during acceleration, the heat stops blowing for a second or two

Mine actually blows harder during acceleration I have never had it quite on me but the one time for an hour.

Fortunately I'm dropping it off tonight at the dealership to have the key fob and acceleration lag fixed that were in TBS 08-023-10 REV. A and 18-026-10. Being that the heater speed reacts to the accelerator I am hoping the PCM flash that fixes the acceleration lag takes care of it. I really doubt it will but I can always hope.

I am not sure if this is the same issue, but sometimes when accelerating, and my blower (on medium speed) is on FLOOR only, it will shoot/blast out the DEFROST on high for a second or two, then go back to what it is set on. Any ideas/thoughts?

Just had mine @ westbury jeep for the same problem....tech had to flash the computer....its only happened 1 time since a very short delay so i need to report it He referred to a part called a control head which would be the other suspect cause its on national back order.....................pat........ Its somehow linked in the same circuit as the electronic throttle...flying dutchman same issue thats how mine started out

I reviewed TSB 18-026-10 its for SAG/HESITATION at launch. Can you describe what it means? I have felt that whenever i get On Ramp and try to accelerate, it feels it lags just to get to 40-50mph. Is this something related to this TSB?

I forgot to mention earlier that I have the V6.The acceleration lag happens when youíre at a dead stop and try to accelerate. I have never noticed it on ramps or while I'm already in motion. What was happening is I would step on the gas and nothing would happen for a second or two when the Jeep was cold. It went away as normal operating temps are reached. One day it actually rolled forward into traffic when I had a small window to cross the road and I needed it to go. Luckily, it kicked in just in time but not before the pucker factor kicked in.

Being that the blower fan got faster during acceleration I was just hoping the acceleration TSB might have an affect but of course it didnít.

Anyway, I just picked my Jeep up last night from the dealer and they had flashed the fob and acceleration fixes from the two TSBs. I still have a little bit of the lag in acceleration when cold but itís significantly better now.

I was told when I picked it up that Chrysler is aware of the blower motor issue and will be issuing a fix for it soon through another TSB. I was also told that there is still an issue with the key fob and a new TSB will be out shortly even though I haven't had anymore issues with the fob (they actually showed me the message from Chrysler on the fob issue).

My blower fan also slows down when I remove it from park and then speeds back up when placed back in park. Weird I guess..

Re: Blower fan intermittent speeds?

Hey guys..new here. I found this forum while researching the fan speed issue. My WK2 Limited V6 has a build date of 12/10.

I took the car to the dealer yesterday for the issue, and the tech had no idea what was going on. He agreed that there's an issue but also stated Chrysler has no fix for it at this time. He said to keep checking back.

I first noticed my issue when putting the car into gear from Park or Neutral. The fan speed either slows or the diverter/blend doors send the air to another location...I can't tell yet.

I too notice erratic fan speed when accelerating/decelerating. It's REALLY annoying me. :(

Glad I found this thread though...
