questions about suspension and synthetic

hey, guys this is my first post on this forum. I have been using this forum, jeepsunlimited, and the jeepforum for about two years now and it has helped alot.

I have a 2 question that I couldnt find anything on when i searched.

I am going to be putting the Bilstein shocks on in the next few weeks, but at the same time wanted to level the frontend (not a big fan of the raked look) do those quarter inch spacers from rocky road or rough country help at all? any pictures of info would be great.

My second question is I have 70 thousand miles on my 2005 Jeep Grand cherokee with the 4.7 litre and was wondering if it would be a good idea to change to royal purple full synthetic? I was also comtemplating changing all my fluids to RP. Any info you could give me would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Lovin my jeep, my whole family has them, from a TJ, four door JK, a liberty, 11 grand cherokee and a 02 grand cherokee they are awesome vehicles.

Re: questions about suspension and synthetic

I have the 1/4" spacer from Rusty's and it game me 1/2" of lift removing the rake effect.
I have used royal purple in the past and i have to be honest, it's not that much different than any other full synthetic out there! just overpriced! Try Valvoline full synthetic, it will work just as good or better.

x2 on the Valvoline SynPower. Used it in my '02 WJ 4.7 H.O. with a Fram TG filter through all 142,000 miles & my '04 Subaru Legacy with 136,000 miles. Never had a issue with my engines and is also what I use in my WK.

x2 on the Valvoline, but a Fram oil filter is the worst. All of theirs use a paper filter with low surface area with cardboard endcaps instead of metal. A cheap anti drain valve is also used so dirty oil leaks back out of the filter. IF you have a noisy valbvetrain on stratup , it is because of a Fram filter is used filter. I use either Mobil 1 or K & N filters which use metal endcaps and are large surface area synthetic filters that filter out much smaller particles with higher flow rate, and no issues with dirty oil draning back.

To each their own I guess. I've always used Fram & Valvoline of some variation since I was 16 and started driving my dads '85 Laser XE turbo and thats all he used in it since purchasing it new in '84. There may be better options like mobil-1 or k&n but I prefer to stick with something I know works for me and has proven itself in all of my cars over the years.

1985 Laser XE 2.2 turbo 183,000 miles no engine/turbo problems
1995 Dakota SLT 3.9 V6 102,000 Bought w/ 81,000 ran valvoline 21,000 miles
1998 Cherokee 4.0 78,000 Bought w/ 55,000 ran valvoline 23,000 miles
1998 Legacy 2.2 53,000 Bought w/ 36,000 ran valvoline 27,000 miles
2002 Grand Cherokee 4.7 H.O. 142,000 Bought w/ 58,000 ran valvoline 84,000 miles
2004 Legacy 2.5 136,000 Bought NEW w/ 35 miles been running valvoline & fram 135,965 miles and no problems with the engine at all.
2008 Grand Cherokee 4.7 genII 34,000 no issues
