Overland Steering Wheel Swap

my wife dislikes the wood to leather join onthe wheel and we had been told that we could swap in an all leather wheel with the identical services from the Limited part set but now there seems a somewhat obscure ban from the factory on swapping in the limited sterring wheel, which appears to have the identical services and characteristics.

I guess a question for the jeep experts as to whether it is possible and what the risks are that make Jeep so concerned.

Well where are you? I wouldn't mind the wood I have a limited I would swap you for ,my leather one not sure but changing out a steering wheel is not to much trouble I believe it just plugs in and out and bolts on the only thing that may be questionable is the air bag

Re: Overland Steering Wheel Swap

I wouldn't think there would be any technical reason why it wouldn't work. Even the airbag would be the same.

It might take some looking to find the wheel because on a new high demand model the parts are generally hard to come by, but eventually you should be able to find one. I don't mind my wood wheel, but if I'd have been able to pick, I probably would have gone with the all leather one.

Re: Overland Steering Wheel Swap

The Overland steering wheel can be swapped for the only-leather version. There was a pic on this site back in the Fall showing a Laredo for sale with the wood Overland steering wheel. Presumably the dealer had made a swap for a customer who wanted an Overland with leather-only steering wheel.
I can see Chrysler wanting to discourage the practice, since it sort of waters down the Overland style, but there should be no technical reason it can't work if the vehicles have compatible options that affect the steering wheel buttons, heating, etc.
