Headlamp Washers?

Hello Ladies and Gents!

I have been lurking on the threads and reading along to get insight on the new 2011 Jeep GC Overland. I currently have a 2005 F150 Lariat 4x4 supercrew that is fully loaded but ready to be traded in at 89,000 miles. It's in flawless shape but I'm ready for a change.

Thus I'm considering the Overland for 2011 (Charcoal or Blackberry) with the tan leather.

Now back to the topic of my thread... I've been watching the youtube videos and even some pictures and it looks like the early pre-prod versions had bumps under the headlamps for headlamp washers. However, after reading the website and probably looking through 1,000 pictures...I see NO haeadlamp washers. Living in MN, this would be a really nice feature that some of the other SUVs I'm comparing this one against have.

I know manuf often do that and pull features. Case in point is my 2011 GT500 that had heated seats in the press videos but didn't on the actual prod car.

Any insight to knowing if this option shows up on late availability in the 2011 like the nav and some of the other features. Or potentially as a 2012 new feature? I find it really odd that Jeep is evolving the new 2011 during it's release year with things like the nav changes. Very odd.

Thanks!

Duke

I think they are only available on the export models at the moment.

This is true.

Chalk it up to North American headlight regulations that are lagging the rest of the developed world. In most places, where HID headlamps are permitted, there is also a requirement to have load levelling (so the lights do not glare into the eyes of oncoming traffic), AND headlamp washers (so that the light is not scattered by dirt on the lenses into oncoming eyes). NorthAm has neither as mandatory laws. Chrysler has opted to provide the load levelling capability with the Zenon HIDs, but not the washers.

In future, maybe they will appear here.

with my WK hids, i have noticed they are not as warm as halogens so they do not melt snow. while driving in snow storms i have to stop at gas stations to clean the lights because so much snow gets packed on them that the visability is greatly reduced.
