Illuminted door sills and metalic sill guards Installed

Hi everyone,
I didn't want to hijack the thread started by Styx back on 10/27 and he has some great install pics of the illuminated door sills. I got mine today and just could not wait until this weekend to do the install. Here are a few pics and a reference to the original thread.

I actually ended up doing a few things different from the other post.

1.) I did not use wire nuts, I clipped the connection to the lower light and then used heat shrink material to seal the reconnected wires.

2.) I did not remove the side panels (I found they were a PITA to try and remove), instead I was able to route the wire up around and back down so it ended up behind these pieces and it saved me a few minutes on each side.

Overall it is a very easy install, you only need a few tools and there are only 2 wires to connect. Pics below. (Yes my WK2 is filthy due to weeks of cold/snow/melt/freeze etc..)

Here are the pics of the door sill guards that I also put with it. Overall against the Mineral Grey paint, IMO it has a very professional finished look to it. The sill protectors are not actually installed (its too cold) so they are just sitting here and not positioned 100%

The lighted door sill looks great, still haven't decided if I like the sill guard or if its too much. I'm going to try the sill tape first (xpel) since my Overland is black.

And for the record wire nuts are not really recommended for in car install. Heat Shrink is good, but really should solder them then heat shrink.

hey LW, yep sorry, I should have clarified, I soldered then wraped with heat shrink, just like you suggested :)

I'm fighting the urge to order them... These, the chrome fog surrounds, and side steps. Wife would not be happy (well except the steps, but she doesn't want to pay for them).

Definitely like those illuminated sills. Was the install relatively simple?

I think I'm going to go for thicker clear bra for door guards.

So is the lettering in the sill guards cut out so the paint is visible through them?
That would change my mind about them. Would look great with the lettering coming through in inferno red.

No the words Grand Cherokee are not punched out, they are depressed into the aluminum to form the indention. I suppose you could get some touchup paint the color of your WK2 and fill in the words. That might look pretty awesome.

Amen brotha...I just recieved my chrome fascia in and chrome bezels are installed. I'm fighting the same urge, but mine is for the door sills, grill insert, SRT8 reps, beefier tires, LED interior, HID exterior, etc.... :(
Is there a Jeep Upgrade Anonomous? This forum is making me poor!

I had the illuminated Jeep door sills installed (love them!). But I noticed yesterday the passenger side sills got scratched! I blame my friend high heels! Anyhow, is there a way I can buff out those scratches? I am really bummed since I only had them for a few weeks. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Looks great Mashie, nice work!

Any chance you want to sell your stock metal non-lighted sills?

Edit: just noticed how old this thread was!

Joe, this just proves that women are not the only ones who suffer for their fashion. Just be thankful that you have a stylish "friend" who likes to wear high heels!! There are worse things, my friend...:D
