730N RER....BIG Problems

Ok...we all are crystal clear how Chyrsler messed up with the MyGIG Media Centers. My God...what a mess...!!

My 2011 GC Overland Hemi arrived end of Dec. 2010, after several months of waiting. Yes, I ordered the Saddle/Black interior, the ACC package. I accepted the wait. That said, my GC was delivered with the discountinued 730N RER Nav/Radio. The very same unit I had in my previous ride ('08 Overland Hemi).

Here are the issues: The 703N RER behaves EXACTLY the same as the one in the '08 Overland. Initially pairing of Blackberry Bold 9650 was flawless. Within days, the problems started. Bluetooth synced, address book uploaded (thank god I do not have many contacts!), Bluetooth icon appears, phone connected. Incoming call, I see caller ID, push phone button, NOTHING...! Then phone disconnects.

I disconnect Bluetooth, return call to caller, they tell me all they heard was a loud static noise. So, I delete pairing, I reboot my Blackberry, complete pairing. This time, I use another phone to call my BB #. Bingo...I hear a loud static.

Added problem, when I was re-pairing the Bluetooth BB, MyGIG VR was not working, not recognizing my voice, keep prompting me, over and over. Frustrated, I disconnected my BB.

Apologizes for the long rant. But, as many of us on the Forum spent hard earned $s to purchase Chyrsler Jeeps next generation, the expectation is, the media center, VR, Bluetooth connectivity should work..!!

I was told by my Jeep dealer, they ordered the disk for the most recent SW enhancements. Honestly, I lost faith. Frankly, I am pissed and expect Chrysler to step up, and make this right for all. Thank you for listening.

Thoughts, questions, concerns????

If you don't want to wait for them to try the software update and your competent with burning disks, its relatively simple, I updated mine this morning..

Check out this thread (http://jeepgarage.org/showthread.php?t=18592) for the direct link to the files. Pretty much you download a .zip folder, open the folder to the desktop or wherever and burn the 2 files and 1 folder to a disc. Insert the disc into the media player and when it prompts hit yes for update.

J13ntv..........were you experiencing the same issues I am having? Did the SW upgrade fix the issues?

Again, the issues are pairing Blackberry Bold 9650 (which was not a problem initially), and MyGIG VR not recognizing my voice, not accepting my commands, prompting me over and over again.

No, I can't say I have the same phone and/or problems, however was just merely stating how you could attempt to update the radio yourself without waiting for the dealership to see if it remedies the situation. They might also not update you to 2.402 but the version previous, else they have official release discs already, since it only hit the web like 4 days ago.

I suppose your issue could be just software related and updating to the newest will put a fresh new copy in there with some tweaks. Worth a shot. Read around on the website in the other thread.. Its all about mygig radios you might find some reading material.

I also purchased a 2011 GC Hemi Overland in Dec from a dealer on Cape Cod. I was surprised to find the 730N RER as oppose the the 430N that I was expecting. At first I was concerned, but since I have updated my software twice from updates downloaded from http://mofv.com/mygig/ . I have an iphone 4 and with the last MyGIG update I have no issues with bluetooth connections or phone related issues.

This brings up an interesting point. What happens if an RER fails down the road. Will they replace it with an RHR?

My 730N RER does not work well with my LG phone. It goes into a cycle of pairing, uploading contacts, disconect, pairing... I shut off Bluetooth.

The latest version I see on the above web page for an RER is 2.302. I thought the newest is 2.4 something (My radio is 2.2).

Clockwoo..........I reside on the Cape as well. I assume you purchased @ Premier Jeep. I purchased off Cape, as I am friends with the owner/dealer. That said, I am very frustrated over the entire issue with Chrysler Jeep's media center. Like I said, I experienced the same issues with the 730N RER in my '08 Overland. To my surprise, my 2011 was delivered with the same bug infested media center 730N RER..!!!

It looks like that site doesn't have the latest. Here's a link to the 2.402 files (from this thread: http://www.supercell.org/forum/viewt...t=508&start=20 )

It isn't enough for a phone to support Bluetooth, it has to support a specific set of the Bluetooth spec called "Handsfree profiles."

In the past, support for handsfree profiles was VERY spotty- I found that a bunch of Samsung and LG phones didn't work (my wife's car had this before it was cool, and they kept a running list of compatible phones- Samsung and LG usually weren't). Modern smartphones with their more standard operating systems are generally better at this, but nothing is foolproof.

CCJ, generally the crackberry BT pairing and functionality has been superb with the 730RER's. It has been the highlight of my multimedia experience in the WK2 using a bberry 9000, though I do not use VR commands much.

There may be others with challenges, but most struggles have been with the iphone. I believe the latest software version from above is intended to address much of the apple BT issues.

I would hope either the DIY software upgrade or your dealer could get this handled.

Offer to trade your 730's for 430's. I'm sure there will be plenty willing to take you up on that.
