9000 Miles and my 1st Issue!

OK, so I was on my phone using Uconnect last night. I person on the other line hung up jusrt as I was shutting the vehicle off. What happend was the screen froze, but the Jeep was off. I took the key out of the vehicle and waited 15 minutes. The damn thing was still on. I tried hitting every button in the damn rig and nothing it remained on. I tried starting it and turning it off but still nothing. No radio, no CD, no NAV, nothing but he phone number of the person i last spoke with.

Being that this was at 11 at night i didnt want to leave it over night so I called the Jeep Roadside Service. They told me they could send someone out and have the vehicle picked up, blah blah. My only concern was it draining the battery overnight.

Then I though maybe I could just disconnect the battery, but that was dismissed when I remembered the battery is under the seat.

Finally it came to me. THE FUSE!!!!! So i whip out the flashlight from the cargo area (awesome by the way) pop the fuse box, decypher the diagram and popped out the fuse for the entertainment center.

Problem solved, well at least for now.

There is something I noticed however. The temp gage read 88 degrees outside. It than slowly, and I mean slowly came down. As of this morning it was still reading in the 70's. By the time my 30 minute commute was over it seems like it is back to normal.

I know only have 2 concerns.
1. Hope this doesnt start happening all the time.
2. Hope my thermometer is callibrated correctly.

It is actually really easy to disconnect the battery. Just move the seat forward and pop off the cover. Replacing it will be a different story.

Did the screen reset its self and turn off like normal today?

Yea everything seems fine now. All my stations stayed saved and everything. It's probobly a 1 in a million glitch but still strange.

Just download the latest patch from Microsoft...oops...wrong forum.

But seriously, since the various vehicle features/functions are "smart features" tied to the CANBUS, the timing of events as you stated may indeed have led to the freeze up; it may be similar to not properly shutting down a computer. My guess is it is highly likely the programmers would have considered this or have some kind of failsafe/reset based on ignition cycles or power-disconnect-reconnect after a glitch occurs. The good thing is at least you weren't left stranded. Good thinking about the fuse and of course the battery being under the seat makes for an even easier solution.
