New Member - Help needed on buying 08-09 SRT8

Hello,

I'm a new member looking to buy a quality used 2008 or 2009 Jeep SRT8.

I would like to know all there is to know specifically with regard to problems I may wish to steer clear of when looking to buy. I would also like to know any differences between 08 and 09 SRT8ís and if it is worth the extra cost to go with a 09.

Currently I am looking at five that I like 3 08ís and 2 09ís, but I could stand a little more help and feed back for SRT8 owners to make the right choices.

One of the 09ís has 23k miles and all four rims are completely oxidized. I have not seen damage or oxidation as bad as this on such a young vehicle. Is this a concern among SRT8 owners, has anyone had luck warranting wheels with similar issues?

I am all ears and I know a great deal about the vehicle, but I would appreciate anyoneís advice.

I have called on over 30 test drove 5 and have yet to find the one. One test drive of a 08 said to be mint turned out to be the worst/funniest test drive of my life. Just one 1/8th down the road from the dealer the transfer case ceased. There was a pop three loud clanks then the vehicle started to jump and buck like an angry bull lifting us up out of our seat before the front wheels completely locked up and pushed us through and intersection. The salesmanís went white and he didnít even have a cell to call it in. They had us wait in the freezing cold for over fifteen minutes before sending out one of service tech to get us in his personal roach of a car. Had it been warmer my wife and I would have gladly walked back do to the condition and odor of this car. Thatís saying a lot from a mechanic, but the good news is this happened before we bought the car. Not an apology or any effort from the dealer was made to make our 7 hour trip including rental worth anything more than disappointment.

Anyone else have a drive train issues?

Thanks for all your help,

Mike Ė DC

If you plan on modding the Jeep, I would recommend a 06 model. The computer on the 06 is more accepting of mods, especially headers and high flow cats. The 06 is the only year that can pass smog tests with headers.

plus the 06s are the fastest :D

seems like thee wheel oxydation would be covered under warranty! Aloca really has dropped the ball on their quality since they were bought out. I see a lot of their customers coming to my company becasue of that.
