New SMD5050 Interior LEDs Installed, BIG improvement - not$100LEDS

Despite the fanboy bandwagon, I wasn't going to plunk down $100+ for some cheap imported LEDs. What I did find on eBay was a good deal on some SMD 5050's.

Replaced the map light (didn't get a picture, previously had a cheaper non-SMD LED installed.

replaced the license plate lights. Previously had these weird little things, too blue for my taste and not bright enough.

Replaced them with these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=180591646354

at $14 for the set, it was a great deal. Though the 9 SMD is almost too big for the license lights, 5 would be plenty.

This was taken at 2pm EDT in my garage, will get another shot tonight to show the difference, and will also show vs. stock incandescent.

Also used the 9SMD 5050's in the glove box, before and after a big difference.

Lastly, changed those same weird wedge LEDs out of my courtesy lights and put 12SMD 5050s from this seller in (left side is the wedge, right is the new SMD, very white and clear)

still waiting on delivery of 12SMD blue LEDs for the footwell area, should be here tomorrow/monday.

Also trying to figure out what to use in the cargo area, going to try one of the 9SMD's in a minute, not sure the cover will fit tho.

I hope they work out for you...didn't nate have a cheap LED catch fine (almost)? I bought the interior LED kit from putco (4 pannels for the front domes and above passengers) and filled the rest with v-leds...been well over a year now and still going strong :)

most leds work fine on other vehicles but the wk for some reason eats all kinds of lights.

i think the the reason is most other vehicles limit the voltage to 12 going into things like the interior lampos where as Jeep sends 14.4 thru it all IIRC......just my guess.

hey OP im not hating.....im dead serious about the 6 month comment. all of them seem to work out of the box but hom many stay that way.....hence my comment.

yeah our jeeps(and all cars) give different voltage all the time. I dont think any car or truck gives a constant 12v all the time. if the leds aren't made to handle up to 15v then they can get effected over time. Most wire 4 in a series playing it safe up to 14v but the leds take damage.

nate bought his leds from v-leds that almost caught on fire but who knows what he was doing in his truck when that happened!!! lolol

good luck with them and report back on how they are going!

Found these on eBay. They look pretty well built and are very bright. I would have ordered them from v-led.com like I did with all the other LED's but I read a review that their festoon bulb isn't 42mm. It's shorter.

A little more blue than I expected but I guess that's how they are suppose to be. Your eyes don't see them as blue after a while.

Still waiting on the rear LED's from v-led.com

Remember that my windshield is tinted.

Nice guys...I bought similar ones a while back off eBay! Got like 50 for like 20bucks or something crazy like that!

When 1 goes bad, I just pop in a new one...Not often at all though, Maybe once every 3 months if that!

Works for me!

Those are the ones I had, I replaced them with the SMD's which are at least 2-3x as bright.
