Need advise with painting my calipers

I already have my calipers painted red with the rattle can paint and im sick of the flaking. I am going to redo it here when the weather is warmer with the G2 stuff. My concern is the paint that is on there going to make it so the G2 doesnt hold like it should?

I am really hoping i dont have to somehow take all of the paint that is already on there off before applying the G2. Does anybody have any experience with this or can they give me some advise on how to prep them so the G2 doesnt flake off? Should I primer them before applying the G2?

Im lost....lol

I have painted calipers with a 2 part paint kit that I bought from O'Reilly's and it did a very good job.. I would suggest that if you buy a good kit at an auto supply such as O'Reilly's , that you ask them on the prep.. My opinion would be to remove as much as you can just like rust /dirt if painting for the first time and then thoroughly clean and etch with a very weak acid like muratic to allow good adhesion.. It is all in the prep..

You can use a wire brush to get the rest off!

I would DEFINATELY remove ANY loose or stained paint and then clean with brake cleaner or soapy water. Use like a 400 grit paper to remove the loose paint and rough up the surface. The most important thing to do is get them clean. Do not touch with your bare hands either as theres oil on your skin.
