P2096 and P2098 CELs
I have SW headers and hi flow cats installed and stock exhaust. My rear o2 sensors have the antifoulers and steel wool in them and I am still getting the lean codes after 2 starts. I have tried all sorts of combinations of steel wool, but found that these codes are not for antifoulers. Any advice? Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be my upstream o2's need to be replaced? I am doubting that it's an exhaust leak since it is happening on both banks not just one. Help please!
Found this info online for p2096:
ENGINE MECHANICAL PROBLEM
1/2 O2 SENSOR
(K141) O2 SENSOR 1/2 SIGNAL CIRCUIT
(K299) O2 1/2 HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT
(K904) O2 DOWNSTREAM RETURN CIRCUIT
Found this info on a different site about p-2096 and p2098:
Just to let you guys know about this code and the fixes. These codes are the fuel rail banks 1 and 2 low pressure [02 sensor]. Long story short.
I got the P2098 about three months ago. I was thinking I needed to have the PCM flashed/updated. After failing emissions today I started calling the dealer to see what the charge would be to update the PCM. this is where the fun started.
The first dealer has never heard of such a thing and had to check into it. But just to hook up the computer to it would be 150.00. The second dealer knew what needed to be done and told me this. Being that I was the second owner to check under the hood behind the battery for a sticker that says updated and a serial number. if it is there then replace the lower 02 sensor disconect the battery for 5 min then drive it for a while and it should be fixed. He also said that if it is not updated it is covered under the 8/80,000 warranty. Nice guy and I will take the jeep to that dealer if I ever need to.
Anyway mine had the update sticker. I changed the 02 sensor and all is fixed and it passed emissions. Just a FYI incase some one runs into this.
