Replacing '08 RER, couple ?'s

I just upgraded from an '04 Limited to an '08 Limited and was all excited about the nav system. Come to find out, it's a major disappointment. The street I live on isn't even on it, and it's been here for over 8 yrs. Not only that, I cannot connect my iPhone and control it with my steering wheel buttons.

I'm thinking about selling the RER and replacing it with an aftermarket nav system. A few things I have to have.

1 - iPhone integration that I can control with my steering wheel buttons. This rules out any FM modulator connections and connecting via the auxiliary port.

2 - Decent navigation - preferably a system with free updates (is this even available???). Also, will it connect to the factory GPS antenna, or will I have utilize whatever aftermarket piece that comes with it, sticking it on the roof?

3 - bluetooth capability that runs through factory installed UConnect mic and speakers.

Basically, I want as close to a factory look as possible. Is this setup available???

I figure that if I can sell my factory RER and purchase everything with that money, plus a few hundred dollars, I am pretty much even with keeping what I have and spending the $225 for the navteq update.

Thanks,

Troy

When you go with aftermarket Head unit, you won't be able to use the factory bluetooth. You will need to get a add-on to a Head unit like the pioneers.

Sony has some good Nav Headunits that use tomtom GPS. I like the Pioneer head units but im not the biggest fan of the Nav part of the system.

Also, the You do not have a standard size for radios. For instance 1DIN or 2 DIN. You will need to mod the sub dash.

you will also lose the factory DVD. At the most, you might be able to watch the movies still... but you will have to use the headphones. Modifications to your vehicle's sub-dash are required.
If the factory radio is replaced, the factory AUX input connection and factory SIRIUS action.

I have a REC for a 2006. I'm probably going to get a DVD receiver from pioneer this year or next and just get a garmin and keep it near by. You can set up the pioneer with a mic that you can hide in the dash or HUD.
